Who do you all consider the top 10 active HCs right now? Can include recruiting and every single aspect of being the ceo of a team.

It's a fair point, assuming you can float the large fiscal shortfall for now.

Not even sure how they are planning to do it to begin with. We have like $10m in reserves last I saw and with a $40m deficit...sounds like we'll be taking out a loan unless boosters are dropping $30m just for that.

  • It starts with the quarterback - and we don't have one. Watching JG play QB is like trying to watch porn on dial up. Buffering. Constant buffering. What confused me about the broadcast was how the commentators kept mentioning how receivers were open, but JG threw it too late. Said that even on the scramble he got hurt on - that he could've thrown it earlier but didn't and had to scramble.
  • I don't think we can ever truly judge this coaching staff until we get some semblance of a competent QB. JG isn't it. Brian Mauer showed why he doesn't belong on the field. The kid looks panicky, rushed, and inaccurate. This has been the worst case scenario for Bailey coming in. That said, I want him to be QB1 going forward. It just sucks I have to hope JG's injury (whatever it is - CJP just said he's day to day) is somewhat significant to keep him out.
  • Kina piggybacking off that - all year the coach has told us JG gives us the best chance to win. I finally see it. Neither of the back ups have shown an ounce of anything when given the chance. Which brings me to........ fire Weinke. Fire Chaney too. Please.
  • I didn't see where players were tweeting negative things post game. I know winning cures all. I don't know who the malcontents are but I definitely believe Savion Williams is transferring because he can't get on the field. I'd speculate Shamburger missed the game because he's one of the bad apples. Not sure about anyone else. I heard Dee Beckwith and Tyler Baron were bitching on twitter post game, but I don't know why they would. One has been injured all year and the other has gotten a fair amount of playing time.
  • Voltwitter is an embarrassment. Seriously. If you're one of the dipshits tweeting at players or recruits, dumping on the program or talking trash to the players themselves then please chug drano.
  • Flame me, but I still believe in Pruitt. I think he's been handed a terrible card - first time head coach, took over a dumpster fire, hired right before the first ESD, and COVID with ridiculous Knox County guidelines in year three. Plus being saddled with JG. We haven't been able to develop a back up which is a red flag - not sure thats direcetly on Pruitt. I do know he's tried to bring in multiple grad transfers (Minishew, Newman, etc) to no avail.

    Most coaches in the SEC cut their teeth in the MAC or other lower level divisions. They learn how to be a head coach - handling everything and everyone and building a coaching tree along the way. Pruitt was just a high school head coach like what, 12 years ago? His ascension was fast. There are going to be growing pains, naturally. That said, I find the constant shuffling of assistants mind boggling.
  • Brian Neidermeyer doesn't need to be coaching line backers. I don't know where he needs to be, but it at where he is now.
  • I'm all for Osovet being the OC.
  • I feel so bad for Brandon Johnson. Listen, the guy isn't an all pro. Not going to play on Sundays. But he's a VFL who made a decision to help the team and opted to redshirt last year and come back this year when the staff asked him to. ONly to be saddled with JG. That touchdown pass was there to be had. JG threw a terrible ball. Brandon Johnson deserves better.
  • Bumphus being out the rest of the year hurts, but hopefully with him and Savion being gone, it forces the staff to play younger guys and develop them. But yeah, Bumphus and Brandon Johnson are the only seniors I'd really like to see come back next year.
  • This team is bad. I don't understand why. I mean, we just roll over in the second half, week after week after week. I can't explain it.

Thats all I got. I can think of other stuff but I'm bored thinking about this team right now. Gonna go fire up the Xbox 360 because apparently NCAA 2014 is the only place I'll ever get to see good Tennessee football again.

i don't disagree with any of this.

the problem though is that there is a pattern. part of that pattern is simply that Tennesse is still Tennessee in terms of the administration, boosters and just determining what is or isn't important in football, and making decisions based on that. i think it's relatively clear that while there may be progress on that front, getting to championship level isn't the thing that's driving decision making behind the scenes..at least not for everyone involved in the decision making process. seems folks are still at odds with one another.

i don't think that pattern breaks this year, maybe not next.....the troubling thing i guess is that i can't readily tell that, collectively, they're trying to. that's frustrating.

there is a lot of revisionist history going on right now concerning a lot of things that Pruitt has done the past 3 years, most of which was looked on very favorably when it happened. now, not so much. and that's fine, i get it....but the takes on hires, recruits, evaluations etc, etc, etc....have done a complete 180. where are all the "chess not checkers" comments now? lol.

but this is pruitt's show. it's up to him how it gets written and how it ends....he needs to really understand that. if he wants to be more aggressive on offense, then be more aggressive. don't pass up a FG late in the game and say it was too far after the FG kicker already made 2 more from farther away, EARLER in the same game.........that was stupid and it assumes that fans and media are dumb. i typically don't care too much about what coaches say in press conferences, but the past two he's had have had things in them that have raised any eyebrow (no pun intended lol).....

anyway...to say things are not good right now is a huge understatement and the clock is ticking...when it runs out, i don't know. i don't think in my heart of hearts it runs out this year. just can't see us firing him at all this season. so he's going to get more opportunities.

but this is well past ridiculous for fans. my kids have spent their entire lives thinking we suck.....cause we have....for their entire lives............................enough is enough already.

regardless of whether or not he gets fired, it still feels like the clock just re-set on the rebuild....afreakingain......

man this sucks.....

Those were Butch guys so there is zero chance they were good for anything. I mean, people are still complaining that players haven’t bought in to Pruitt who were coached by Jones for 1 year and are now in year 3 with Pruitt.

There are other coaches. Pruitt deserves to end of year. Then, gets to make his own changes. We dont want to knee jerk.

I do like him and DO think he'll be a good HBC. He just isnt ready. I support CPF in whatever he does.

It’s not paid over one year. Buyout is $12 million. Divide over five is $2.4 million each year. Also, mitigated by any job he takes. Let’s assume $500k. We are paying $1.9 million per year. Do you really believe we won’t lose $1.9 million by keeping him than hiring Freeze? We would gain at least $20 million in ticket sales. It is a no brainer to me.

Why is Urban even being mentioned? Seriosuly, Freeze is mentioned because he's in the past stated we were his dream school as well as because he broke into Neyland as sort of the start of his desire to become a big time coach. He's damaged goods in need of a second chance. Urban has no connection to us at all.

I have to admit that talking about coaching changes has been more entertaining than watching our football team for the last few years. But it seems clear that there will not be a change this year regardless of the number of fans that think we need one. So all this talk could be destructive. I think the best path forward for right now is to get Bailey ready to play and then for Pruitt to remove the coaches who aren't cutting it or who he doesn't get along with at the end of the season. The challenge will be keeping the recruiting class that we have right now.
