Windy's football discussion thread.

We’ve seen this before with Butch late in his career here. The team comes out playing hard the other team rallies and our guys quit. Late last year and early this year it seemed we were beyond that. The Ha happened and doubt crept back in. I’m my mind it was the Kentucky game when the team was lost. It doesn’t matter how hard you play if the offense can’t bring you back.

I’m not saying that CJP can’t get the team to believe again but I don’t remember a situation where a coach has ever bounced back from a similar situation

Sidebar rant: When ND sealed victory over Clemson, the too many fans present rushed the field and enveloped all present in a cloud of Covid-19 exhalations. Though ND wanted their team to win, even expected their team to win, they made no preparations for crowd control or the safety of visitors from Clemson.

In contrast, PTBs chose to confront peaceful BLM demonstrators with law enforcement in riot gear, armed with batons, tear gas, rubber bullets, flash-bangs, water cannons, and other “non-lethal” crowd control methods which can and did maim. Did they line parade routs & demonstration areas? Protect property? Do anything to ensure the legal exercise of assembly & speech? No. They abandoned the areas of protest, allowing lawless hangers on to burn & loot. Then, they attacked the peaceful protesters, blaming them for all the ills befalling property and bystanders.

Echoing this egregiously poor policy, decisions, and actions, the PTBs chose to look the other way at largely white college fans creating an impromptu super spreader event that surprised no one. The prevalence of wrongheadedness is epic.

Doesn’t impress me Champ. But like you say, HB sure does look purty to you. That’s all that matters I guess. I can’t wait for three and a half years of a qb that can’t move the down the field. Yippee.
Heck man, it's no worse than what we've had. Not being fussy, but you're arguing about his check downs, when our 5th year senior can't do that 95% of the time. At this point it's obvious it's not 100% on any qb, as much as it is coaching.

that’s false. Y’all love to think JG doesn’t check down but he has repeatedly this year. Receivers aren’t getting open and the line has severely underperformed. They were in a hurry up last night. Check downs for a five yard gain were accomplishing absolutely nothing except eating clock which is all Arky wanted. In that type of offense, you either have to get open down the field, hit a guy on the sideline to get out of bounds or throw the ball away. Anyone could have made that throw. A seasoned qb knows it’s actually against the purpose of the offense to make a 5 yard throw to the middle of the field where you can’t stop the clock.

But y’all love slobbing over backups, might as well be posting in the FF

I’ve had jgs back the entire time search it if you don’t believe me as a matter of fact me and slice both have when no one else seemed too. I just think with how this season is going let’s give the kid a chamce

And i'll never understand the argument for jg. It's not that I want to bash the kid, but he's just not good, period. Maybe Bailey isn't going to be neither, but I'd rather him get experience, than to waist more time on a qb anybody can see isn't going to get better. It's opinions man, you're obviously a jg guy, I'm not. Like I said, it doesn't really matter, cause it's becoming apparent that the coach is the real issue.

And Bill I'm not hating on you man. I just don't think the kid is an sec qb, and you may be right that Bailey isn't either. I'm just tired of losing, and it's not getting any better any time soon unfortunately.

I’m obviously not a JG guy. But experience at the risk of destroying a future 3 year starter’s confidence and psyche seems silly to me

And that’s it this season doesn’t matter so get the freshman experience

Well, if he is a SEC caliber qb then the experience of seeing live SEC football with bullets flying should be invaluable for his future. If that damages his confidence or psyche then maybe he isn’t what we need to compete in the SEC.

I'm willing to hang onto CJP for 2 more years. In comparison, imo, he is a year ahead of CJM at this point. CJM baked the cake that CPF put the icing on. Hopefully CJP can, at least, bake the cake.

The team don't even look like the same team from the first two games. It makes me wonder what happened ? Heck the first 2 games and a half against Georgia and they haven't been the same since. Are they that fragile or is it coaching or something tearing them apart in the locker room? I hope it is all because of covid .
