Pruitt and the entire offensive staff set Bailey up for failure in his first drive last night. You run 7 or 8 straight run plays then the kids first pass attempt is on a 4th and 4. Then on the last drive of the game they call what 4 or 5 straight vertical plays while Arky is in a prevent defense....what did you expect Bailey to do but take the check down every time.

This can’t be said enough. That last drive with the check downs Bailey made the right decision with the position the coaching staff put him in. It’s what was there.

They should have been more creative. Out routes to the sideline, WR bubble screen along short side of the field...something. Bailey obviously makes the right read and decision, which is more than we can say for JG and Maurer.

I’m infuriated every time I think about it.

One bad class with player development is better than top classes with no development. Just compare Arkansas to Tennessee

I think it’s probably Tee.

We’re going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel on outside hires at this point. Might as well give Tee a shot.

If we made a move now, I wouldn’t mind seeing Tee get a shot. Give him a 4 game audition. He’s also a good enough recruiter to maybe keep the recruiting class together.

Regarding Tee, Hiring back to back coaches with no HC experience after your first one failed seems like a terrible idea tbh

I think they are saying let Tee coach the rest this year and next year. Save money on new head coach and all new assistants. If it doesn’t work, then hire someone else when money is back.

This is where I am. If you can get Freeze then pull the trigger. Otherwise stick this out and hope it is another Dabo.

Yup. We fired Butch a year too late. If Pruitt goes 3-7 this year and gets blown out against A&M, Auburn, and Florida then changes need to be made.

Maybe he sees how it has really affected Maurer, but that is still no excuse. Plenty of true freshmen QB are playing very well in this covid season.

Tee literally had play calling duties taken away at USC no more than 3 years ago.

And now we should hand him the keys to a SEC program?

Maybe there is more to being a head coach than being able to call plays? Dabo was a wide receiver coach. Being a head coach is all about hiring great coordinators and motivating kids to play hard. I think VFL’s know more about coaches and being a head coach than keyboard strokers. Mine was dead on about Ansley.... I said it day one.

I hate to say this, but imo, this is the week, that the decommits begin

Only reason for keeping Pruitt is for the recruiting and the young guys on the roster. If those kids start to decommit/transfer then I see no reason for us to keep him.

Then we go 7-5 next season and who the hell knows.

After 12 years I just have no expectation that this is ever going to change. We are what we are. Offensive coaches, defensive coaches, Saban tree, not Saban tree, great recruiting classes, meh recruiting classes. Nothing changes.

Someone like Hugh freeze would easily salvage it. You have to make your move with no other big jobs open, especially no other SEC jobs.

We aren’t hiring Hugh Freeze or Urban Meyer or anybody else everybody wants. How do we not understand this yet?
