I'm good with not going for the FG. The refs missed an obvious PI, Bailey made the correct read, should've been a 1st down. TD would've given the D and O more motivation. I'm not mad at that call.
I am more mad about the call on 3rd down than the call on 4th. I think Arky had at least 8 in the box and we ran it right at them anyway. Also agree on the PI.

He managed the game reasonably well in the first half. We were going to smashmouth and it worked for one half. Arky adjusted and that was that. I think we needed to have taken better advantage of our dominance in the first half. It was clear that the philosophy was protect the ball at all costs and JG did that. That also means that he was not trusted to make many throws.
You can’t win in the SEC playing scared and running every play. It doesn’t work. We are going to get smoked by every team left except Vandy.

Pruitt is exactly correct on Bailey. He kept throwing the check down which is exactly what Arkansas wanted.

it’s Comical how we have posters saying he looked poised when he was in fact playing dumb football. Now i am not saying his mistakes somehow mean he can’t be good but those decisions were far from poised. They were mistakes

Yes it was bad QB decisions last possession. Not absolutely awful like the 2 before him though. Unfortunately for us, the ideal situation would be to have a coach not dumb as a box of rocks play the kid in the less meaningful situation and let him throw on something before 4th down and 4. Missouri 4th quarter earlier this year even comes to mind. You can’t fix that Dumbass on our sideline though. He’s drowning at this HC stuff.

I know it is what Arky wanted, but he was also taking what the D gave him. He probably should have taken at least one shot further downfield, but there are plenty of times JG should have taken a checkdown and did not and either took a sack or threw a pick.

Freeze is not getting an SEC job.

Fickell isn’t taking the Tennessee job.

You all should have learned by now to set your sights lower.
100% disagree. Unless this is more of a damning indictment on our administration to actually making good hires.

I hope this isn’t serious. He threw every pass where it should have gone except for the last pass, but it was the last play of the game and he threw it up for someone to make a play. His play in one series was better than what we have seen from any other QB all year.

I agree

My biggest complaint other than the QB debacle we have is we have zero Explosive plays. Grey only averaged 4 yards a carry last night and that’s because he can’t break a tackle and goes down at first touch. 11 yards was his longest run and that OL was blowing holes open getting him to the second level a lot in that first half.

It’s similar to last week when everyone was saying the team just played with more juice for BM than JG. That’s looks silly today.
I get it everyone wants JG done but the love for the other QBs is nothing but noise from the anyone but JG movement and nothing else. We just haven’t seen enough of HB to know anything about him.
I was one of those fans that wanted to see BM get his shot but after last night I know he is not the answer.

It pains me to say it but I think JG probably gives us our best chance at success.

Agree. You get them to load up the box to stop the run and you stick a dagger in them for it. We were totally unable to do that because the staff did not trust him to make the right read.

He may have a point, because we all know Saban is the one who runs this league, and I am sure he would call the commissioner up and tell him he cannot allow that kind of hire. After all, we know Saban and Alabama are squeaky clean… Can’t have a man with past corruption come into this league and disrupt it’s squeaky clean image.

Our best at what 3-7? He isn’t beating anyone other than Vandy. Bailey is our only option. He is by far the best QB and you play for the future now.

Team are content to let us run for 100 yards cause we can ever break free for big chunks or a score. Just doesnt happen. Bend but dont break. We cant pass, so, onward we march.

This is where I am. I was super close after Butch, but when Fulmer took the interim AD and then officially full-time, I had hope that he would mend the division that occurred when he was pushed out, and everyone would finally start rowing in the same direction on the Hill. Painful that this is not the case. Even our NC winning coach can’t get the entire administration and boosters rowing in the same direction. It makes me think no one can do it, if he can’t, which leaves us at this...how do we ever ge back to being among the elite? I’m not sure we can without everyone on board to make TN great again. This is a sucky feeling. @InVOLuntary has said this on this board numerous times...it’s all about the financial bottom line. It’s not about winning. The administration knows what our fanbase is like and has taken advantage of it in a time when the money in football is astronomical. Instead of investing the revenue that we give them on a quality coach and trying to win, then keep feeding us hope with the next up and comer for 3-5 years, let us keep spending our money, make maximum profit, then spit that coach out in 3-5 years. Rinse and repeat. Until our massive fanbase says we have had enough and stops supporting the crap coach they throw at us, it will be status quo, no matter if Neyland himself came back to life and led the charges as AD. It is what it is, and is very frustrating for our great fanbase. We deserve much better!

I will either give the same level for the next 3 years until my son goes to college. If it hasn’t changed my investment will be zero. Still considering dropping it down and just helping basketball. If my son’s career takes off where we can’t do as much then I will pull out completely. I do think Phil has it rowing in the same direction for the most part but this is looking like a bad hire and rowing in the same direction doesn’t fix that.

I just get the feeling Pruitt should be a career assistant coach. I think he may be feeling it too. Heavy is the crown.

What I don’t understand is, why extend a contract? Fulmer is no dummy, he attends practice, why extend this thing IF you see the hand writing on the wall. I like Pruitt And want him to be successful.

Seems like for him to succeed will take daily sit-down sessions with Fulmer and do some real soul searching on philosophy. Is he willing to take on something like this? Is Phil willing to take on this?

I do not think we can go through another buy-out at this point but something major has to change.

There is something deeply wrong with our situation.

Pruitt will be here through his 3-8 record next year and Friend will coach us against Vandy and we will start up the hotboard then.

I’m at the point of not giving a damn. Hire him and let them get mad. Fine us, who cares. Leave the damn league then. ACC would love a program of our caliber.
