What is the real issue with JG?

Is it him starting the game or the coach keeping him in when he goes off the rails? I can see starting him but when he is not performing well, why are we keeping him in the game? If he is not getting it done, you have to pull him. No question about that.

Why let him dig a hole to start with?

I wonder if next year the other QBs will be ready. They must be awful if JG is the best chance we have to win.

This. I don't have much faith in this staff because of this right here. Next year will be no better. QB play will always be our weakness.
I also think CJP unlike his mentor Saban is behind the times in football. Game managers aren't enough to win in this era.

The bottom line is --- that JG has caught the attention of too many Vol fans for way too long for there not to be something terribly wrong. Why Pruitt continues to start him is a mystery. JG is not going to improve. He is who he is.

He is a starting QB at Rutgers trying to be a starting QB at UT!

Believe season plays out like this
Arkansas= JG plays a decent game
CJP = As I said he gives us the best chance
A&M = JG stinks it up
Aubutn = JG stinks it up
CJP= We will look at all the QB's this week heading to Vandy. Pre game =JG gives us the best chance to win.
Vanderbilt = JG throws for +300 everything looking good for 2021
CJP = As I said JG gives us best chance to win.
Florida = JG & team lose 25+ blowout season over
CJP post game= Seen some good things out of JG this year, in a highly stressful Covid year. We look forward to great QB competition in 2021. With JG's experience he will give us the best chance to win. He can take his 6 years and tutor the other QB's and Weinke also. Excited about Spring practice.

He's one second behind everyone else on the field. He has no awareness and plays develop to slow in his head. It's all mental and at this point it will never change. It is what it is. The light is never going to come on.
Stop making sense here dadgum it

IMO JG's subconscious mind won't allow him to perform when the lights come on and the crowd shoqws up. It's just not in him. If it's a big game and he's in position to win he'll find a way to snatch losing out of the jaws of victory about to clinch. How else do you explain his historically bad performance against Bama where the Vols are ready to score and he decides on his own to go against the called play (which would have worked per video evidence) and tried to sneak it over the top, turned it over and Bama scores, a 14 point swing?!?!?!? How else do you explain the Vols this year taking a lead into halftime against UGA where our defense played hard and heroically, and he comes out in the second half and pretty much just took the team out of the game? Same with Kentucky this year. He has a history of this sort of bad behavior as a college QB. He probably is a great young man, but he needed to have been run off from the Vol football program years ago, yet here is starting and ready to lay a loss on the Vols again in Fayetteville. When he does win as the QB on the field, the team wins in spite of his bad play in most cases see lasdt year's bowl win. He's a had a few decent performances but even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.

Yuh like we didn't have our best sec record since fulmer last year...just can't win 🙄 It is like facts mean nothing to the Legion.
You really want to credit JG for all those wins? TN won most in spite of JGs terrible play. He singlehandedly tried to give Indiana the win, but the rest of the team refused to lose. Eric Gray won Vandy if you are gonna credit anyone.

I remember standing in the stadium at gametime
Trying to get my hopes up
There was this 5th year qb who they wont sit down
I hate to watch him do his stuff
Through the long losing nights he makes plays to get us beat
He makes 1 good play in a thousand and shoots his arrow at our feet
Down on JG street
In the ball game, he holds it and he drops it
when the defense puts him on his back
When he throws a pick six for the second time
Our team justs lets them run on by
Unlike all the other qbs, he looks lost on 3rd down and its incomplete
As he makes his way to the sidelines after another 3 and out
Down on JG Street
And sometimes even now, when were feeling lonely and beat
Jeremy says we've closed the gap and war daddies have been added to the sheet
Down on JG Street
Down on JG Street

JG would be a sports psychologist’s dream. I think he has the talent somewhere to be decent, but he just can’t get out of his own head. Maybe it’s all the hits he’s taken. Who knows.

CJPs inability to recognize and/or recruit and develop his replacement after this many years is baffling.

If there is a chance in h-ll he is still here or even thinks or talks such thoughts, most qb's on this team will inter the transfer portal.

More concerned with the "real" issue with why Pruitt plays him. My days of bashing JG are over with.

My current theory involves pictures on JG's phone, a bathroom stall, Pruitt, and Nick Saban.

This is what we are able to see. Change his mental condition to great and then we ,I think, will see a lot of skill problems.

JG's problem is his crippling fear of failure. Hinders quick decisions, makes him stare down receivers to make sure that he doesn't make a mistake. Can't psychologically bounce back from a mistake which often results in a compounding of mistakes. He should spend half of every practice with a sports psychologist.

I think you are right. Best post describing JG's ineptness I have read in sometime.

Pruitt has been quite clear this whole time but people just dont listen. JG is the best QB we have. Pruitt and his staff have done an abominable job of recruiting and developing QBs and that has led to this point. WE HAVE NO QB WORTH A DAMN. I dont care how many stars HB has. Clearly he isnt that good or he's be starting. Same with BM and Shrout.

As soon as people get comfortable with the face that UT has been a miserable failure at getting a QB, the faster we can move on from Pruitt.

People can say all they want that Pruitt isnt giving these guys a chance to take the job from JG. I dont believe it. I think they all suck and Pruitt goes to bed every night knowing this fact. With the new red shirt rules and everyone getting an extra year of eligibility theres no reason for Pruitt to hold back on a young QB unless that young QB just isn't that good.
