I don't know if debt can simply be discharged or not. I am simply stating the economic reality of other countries who fell off the path we are currently on.

I would love a relatively painless way out of 30T in debt. I just don't know it it is possible.

It will not be painless. Even in a debt jubilee, there are creditors or bondholders on the other side of those debts. That means big pension funds most likely.

China is in a similar situation. The difference is that they spent all of their debt on building infrastructure. We spent our on social programs and propping up a stock market. Would you rather be a country with a revitalized infrastructure that can hit the ground running on the other side of this or a country with an aging infrastructure?

I just don't trust PA. They've been pretty open about doing whatever necessary to win. I think they'll mysteriously find a pile of ballots to push him over the top. They've been pretty much open about their intention to cheat.

I’ll pay your “ petroleum products “ bill if you will pay mine . Let’s see if you keep that same ideology and who screams uncle first . That’s the equivalent of me saying everyone who fishes more than I do should pay more to fish because there are other alternatives .

I think we are leading. I work in the power industry and the environmental regs have really gotten tighter over the past 10 years. Coal power plants are being demolished and new ones are NOT being built because of the penalties.
