New QB being Installed During Offweek

Do you realize that Maurers stats could very easily read the other way? Two of his picks hit HIS receivers in the chest, not the opponent. 1 was literally two plays later after landing on his head which was later revealed had left him concussed. There was only two ints last year that was all on him. The first one vs Miss St and the one vs UGA.

Yet youre clamoring for Bailey that very nearly threw a pick in only 4 attempts that ONLY hit the defender while complaining about Maurers td/int ratio? 🤦‍♂️.

Some people just amaze me with their logic.

I have not been "clamoring" for Bailey. I merely suggested that it is probably likely that Bailey will get an opportunity after he is ready. Maurer has made obvious bad decisions in the games he's played. There were a couple of other balls that could/should have been intercepted. Maurer has had opportunities and has been in the system much longer than Bailey, but has not shown anything that would lead one (particularly the coaches) to believe he is the answer. He may get better, hopefully he will. The jury is still out on Bailey but he has not had the time in the system to get a legit shot at being successful.

"Some people just amaze me" reading things into posts that are not there.

Would some hero summarize any legit info in this thread as to wether we are actually prepping a new qb for arkansas?

541 yards 2 tds 5 picks 2 rush tds Frsh
695 yards 2 tds 5 picks 1 rush tds Frsh

Just saying . You guys can figure it out if you want.

Yep and he left all the other stats out that show how much better Dobbs was as a freshman.
No I didn’t . I’m saying that Dobbs stats weren’t all that impressive as a freshman either and actually somewhat similar. Why not give him a chance? I think JD had a about 140 + more yards rushing . I didn’t think the disparity was enough to point out, especially given the differences in the type of offenses being run .

You can't develop at least 1 of the 2 other QBs that also have been in your system at least a year in said 5 weeks?

Sounds like you either have more than one bad QB, or you're not very good and developing them.

Bingo! We have a bad QB and 2 three stars with experience that can't unseat him. It's not a development problem. It's a recruiting problem. We don't have a viable quarterback.

KTown doesn’t WANT a good qb. He only wants to be right. He seems to forget that Josh Dobbs wasn’t Josh Dobbs before he was given an opportunity to make a name for himself.

For the record Dobbs in his 1st 79 attempt didnt have a TD to his name, rushing or passing...he did have 3 ints and threw for less yards then BM...
Keep in mind he also wasnt pulled at halftime and thrown in games for 1 drive..he was the starter after the Bama game... and for fun....he threw alot of screen passes to Pig, swing passes to the HBs. That will up anyones comp%

Yeah.... no. He wasn’t

Dobbs was better passing and much better running. I already posted the stats.

You wouldn't know as you didn't watch UT then. I actually was an early Dobbs supporter. I can see who the most talented qb is.

Right now BM is third.

And no he is nowhere close to as good as Dobbs was as a freshman.

You were/are D4H. What will you change your name to when Bailey takes over?

I said something similar about JG and you threw stats at me as a way to counter what I was saying . So which is it? Because from my side I know what I see with JG and I know what I see with Maurer. For all of JG’s athleticism he doesn’t play fast. At all. Maybe he’s a weight room or a shorts and pads hero, but those measurables don’t mean a damn thing on Saturdays when he has a meltdown. Hence my point about Maurer getting a look and pointing out that his stats weren’t all that different.

I was a huge Dobbs guy from the moment he got a chance and the offense finally started moving the ball. He was great with his legs as a freshman...and the entire time he was at Tennessee. However, he was ok as a passer until he really made improvements his last two seasons. Maurer looked better throwing the ball as a freshman than Dobbs did his first year. That doesn't mean that either of them were bad or great. Maurer is a talented guy and it would take some weird bias against the guy to say otherwise.

I will agree that you likely can’t develop a true freshman QB in that time. He!!, even Peyton Manning largely handed it off during his freshman season and made mostly limited throws (but it worked because we out-talented every team that he started against).

BUT, coaches should be able to get the other players ready by Game 5 IF the player has the requisite ability to play in the SEC.

Bottom line: Too much to expect with Bailey...but not necessarily the others.
