Missed on "every quarterback"? You do realize the only QB that they could honestly have been said to have "missed" on is Maurer...right?

Shrout was a last minute swing in the dark thanks to the late running circus coaching search, and Bailey is not a miss...so you guys keep throwing this stupid ass statement around just to make the staff sound as bad as possible..

And who in the hell knew Maurer is extreme bi-polar sufferer with suicidal thoughts...oh and injury prone on top of that? How in the f'n hell do you blame Pruitt for that?

And nobody on VN would call me a "blind optimist"...but I also try to be fair and take the details into consideration....the proverbial devil looms large in these particular details.

You’re exaggerating the situation in the opposite direction imo. Go back and read the thread and quotes from Howell. Maybe he inevitably winds up at UNC, but our staff cooled on him at a time when reports and Howell himself were making it sound like we were the leader in his recruitment. It doesn’t matter now, but he liked UT a lot. There’s no way of knowing if he still would’ve flipped to UNC had he first committed to us. Regardless, with hindsight, it goes down as the first strike against this coaching staff’s ability to evaluate QB talent.

And developing JG since they are insistent on playing him. We didn’t try to keep Adrian Martinez and had a good shot at Howell, but chose Maurer. Two big misses.

Well, I agree. Was simply saying that you keep stretching it as fact that we were never getting Howell. We had as good a shot as anybody in that recruitment and the staff went elsewhere. It was a mistake and until we find somebody other than JG people are going to keep bringing up Howell/Trevor/Higgins/Rodgers/etc.

Lenneth likely doesn’t play this year IIRC.

AP was pretty intent on making it sound pretty damning that we could have possibly signed those two, But instead wound up with shrout and Maurer... Not a good look with that frame.

Let him release the recordings. Otherwise I sleep at night. I also believe Martinez was a flip as soon as Frost landed the Nebraska gig...if not before. A lot of that was Pruitt and Helton not securing that relationship but more of it was Martinez was always tight with Frost. Not enough to commit to UCF...but it would’ve been tight with them “winning the NC”.
