I'll still watch for now, but nothing has me excited for tomorrow. Ans knowing JG is most likely the starter has me even less excited. Im tired of the Vols going into games with 0 chance of winningAnd he will lose this fanbase. Die hards will always stay, but I bet many will find better things to do on Saturdays too. If JG plays all game against Bama and doesn’t play well, I will be recording our games from now on and rewatching them only if we win. It’s not worth ruining Saturdays.
The most sane post all day in this thread.Agreed. I don’t think he throws a freshman in the spotlight against the #2 team in the country. If bailey comes in while behind, he can’t be blamed for a loss and he will get to start fresh against more winnable opponents. And on the flip side, if HB were to bring us back by some miracle, his legend is cemented.
Exactly how I feel. This will be the last game I watch with JG as QB. If he is terrible, I won’t watch another one live. It puts me in a terrible mood and I’ve got two kids I can give that time to.I'll still watch for now, but nothing has me excited for tomorrow. That pass vs uga. He has swagger/personality that makes him easy to root for. Most don't understand what happens on each play to recognize everything the staff has alluded to him doing wrong. But most of all, he's not JG.
It's JG fatigue.
I mean, Shrout had one good pass against uscjr last year. Outside of that he looked mostly lost vs uscjr and when he got to play against lowly Charlotte as well. But fans are clamoring for him as well.
It's simply JG fatigue. And I'm someone who has been a JG defender the better part of the past two years.
Best pass in the last 4 years. Play action from under center. He climbed the pocket and hit the receiver IN STRIDE.That pass vs uga. He has swagger/personality that makes him easy to root for. That GSU game and Vandy game mean nothing to me. I believe he learned from the GSU game that these are real games that the other team is trying to win, and the Vandy game was on a team full of quitters...and yes, even three years later I still call a lot of guys on that team quitters no matter who it pisses off.Thought Hubbs was spot-on that each game's causes were very different. That said, none of the causes are very excusable or make it any better.
Jmo, but the cause behind Ga St was most egregious. Simply not being prepared on either side is just bush league. Vandy...maybe Helton had something to do with it as Hubbs alluded to, but we gave up a lot of points too. It was later mentioned CJP may have lost the team by then. UK...we overall played nose to nose with them barring the TOs. I'll take that (turnovers have a lot of variance) over just getting whipped play for play like we did vs Ga St and Vandy.
We’re gonna get curbstomped this week regardless of who plays QB. With that aside there should be no reason JG sees the field again. He’s worn out his time 5 times over and has shown repeatedly that he’s not the guy. Before you say it... I know, I know - armchair coach comment incoming. I’m starting to seriously question this staff’s aptitude to assess and make the correct personnel decisions.
HB is unproven so I can’t speak to him outside of the fact that he should be given a shot. The other QBs we have aren’t even remotely close to elite or what we need to take this team to the next level. Play for next year and the year after that. Put JG off to the side cause he’s a mental case of a QB. Play whoever gives us a decent shot of the remaining QBs but HB needs a shot before we can rule one way or the other on him. If he’s not ready then the staff needs to quit kicking the can down the road on JG and focus their attention elsewhere. Then go recruit an ace QB with the so-called recruiting studs we have on staff so that guy can take over.
Missed on "every quarterback"? You do realize the only QB that they could honestly have been said to have "missed" on is Maurer...right?Exactly my take away from that podcast as well. The fact that they have missed on every QB and continue to play a QB who is losing us games is terrifying. And Maurer being under Shrout is absolutely crazy. Shrout might not start for GA state and they still keep him at two. I just have no words. You have to go with Bailey and only Bailey for the future.
I think quitting is a poor reflection on coaches. That GSU game and Vandy game mean nothing to me. You’re exaggerating the situation in the opposite direction imo. Go back and read the thread and quotes from Howell. Maybe he inevitably winds up at UNC, but our staff cooled on him at a time when reports and Howell himself were making it sound like we were the leader in his recruitment. It doesn’t matter now, but he liked UT a lot. There’s no way of knowing if he still would’ve flipped to UNC had he first committed to us. Regardless, with hindsight, it goes down as the first strike against this coaching staff’s ability to evaluate QB talent.Fiction. We like to act like they’d pick us if we wanted them. Mutant strain of BVS.
