Property rights here, or the lack of them where they came from? Which do you think they want?

I find it telling that the only people you ever see wanting socialism are the folks that have never had it. It's kind of like New Coke in that way.

Marriage is between a man a woman and God. A civil union, even if called marriage, never involves God. As far as the church is concerned it's not marriage. Semantics? Maybe, but they matter.

I was confused when I joined my current church and there were a couple gay couples openly working and practicing with the church. Upon seeing my reaction I was told they were platonic civil unions, so while they may literally lay with another man, they dont lay with them in the biblical sense.

So to that point what is the sin? As with pretty much all sins it requires the practice of the action, not just a desire. Just like marriage is no guarantee of fidelity or lack of other lustful sins.

I got to know one of the couples well and it came up, talking about relationships. And they see it as a test of their faith. Similiar to someone joining the orders. And similiar to the rest of us, they live their lives and do their best to avoid sin, and being Catholic they confess their sins.

We are all sinners, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Large Cuban family on my wife's side and they are all MAGA as hell regardless of generation.

I think US Republicans LOVE to conflate things like Obamacare with Fidel Castro nationalization of all property. And I think old guard Miami Cubans are more than happy to join in willful ignorance of the nuances between the two of it helps them get their family wealth back.

Their children and grandchildren see the difference and are less knee jerk about it.

I'm not a Republican.

And I love that your answer is to mock the people who actually lived through it, to the extent that they had to escape it, as "ignorant". They're not smart enough to know what they've experienced, but you are.

Yes. Your experiences in the US are far more capable of judging than their experiences under Castro.

I'm following.

But nonetheless, we're in agreement as to what political philosophy they lean toward, even if you're far better at judging their reasons for doing so.

If I understand what you were saying correctly, two homosexual men are living together but as brother and brother and not engaging in sexual acts? I find that hard to believe but possible. But why put yourself in an occasion of sin to begin with?

Eh I spent 13 years in Catholic schools. Nothing going to offend me after that. I havent heard anything close to as sacrilegious, offensive, or Anti Catholic as I did in school. Natural response from a bunch of reprobates going thru a forced bad Catholic education.
My parents told me they are glad they sent me to Catholic high school, they assumed that's why I still practice, even my Baptist dad. I told them I am Catholic inspite of my high school not because of it.

That's who they are. And this is how they feel called to live. They have a better "marriage" than I have seen from many straight couples, and they have faith in God. In my book they are doing pretty good. No idea what goes on behind closed doors, but we never do.

Married straight men face the same risk. Then you through in how questionable divorce may be for God, and that risk is not unique at all.

I greatly admire any homosexual who can live a chaste life. Same sex attraction is such a heavy cross to bare
