Wrong.

It is always the coaches fault when players have not been recruited/signed/developed. Nowhere else to point the finger. This shrugging of the shoulders/no directed accountability is garbage.

I guess you blame fans for expectations of excellence?
Always? So JG’s decision to sneak last year at Bama was on the coaches? And that’s just the easiest example to think of if the top of my head. Try not to take the easy route my guy. A lot of our troubles actually do fall on JG.

I’m with ya.. now, you give someone else a chance to see if you have a gamer when the lights come on.. pull one of JT, BM, or HB to the side and let them know this is their game to show out.. ya never know
Pruitt doesn't believe in gamers for whatever reason. I get it practice should translate to game but it hasn't for JG. Lets roll with Mauer or Bailey. Make this game like Florida 2009. Run the ball and try get this game as close to a 3 hour game as possible.

yep....but i'd got with FL 2015. which i think up until we got in to some specific situations that CBJ just had the wrong answers for, the game plan for that game was as good a game plan as we've had around here in a while. Bama, same year, was a relatively close 2nd.....

This next recruiting class is vital to help bring the Vols back to championship contenders.

This class is not going to hold if the last 6 quarters of play continue. Do this again vs Arkansas, Vandy, or Auburn then say goodbye. Pruitt has to stop the bleeding and turn this thing around ASAP.

The way this season is going, that could be soon for me. My spirit is strong, but my heart is weak.

You're not the only one. I'll never root for another college team, or for UT to lose, but I'll be dammed if the last 15 years of poor decisions, embarrassment, and futility has me on the verge of not following UT football anymore. It's just not worth the heartache year after year. I don't expect this team to win 12 games every year, but for the love of God, can we just play competent football for one season?

At least Barnes is making the basketball program relevant again.

True. Florida in 2015 wasn't a really good team tho. Florida 2009 is a similar type team talent wise that we are going to play on Saturday. Shorten the game at all costs if we could cover or keep it within 4 Td's that's probably a win for us. As long as the backups play QB the majority of the game.

either way, i dont' think many of us gave ourselves much of a shot at going to gainesvile and winning that game, until we got to the point where we could.

Same with Bama that year.

Blame is a funny thing..

Year 0...Jarrett Guarantano..dies anybody in their right mind blame the staff for his problems? If so, then you are stupid...the kids problems are deeply ingrained in his own mind..nobody could fix him when the lights come on.

Year 1...Shrout..took a flyer on a massive project..not their fault that table scraps were all that was left..

Year 2...Maurer..talented but raw elite 11 kid..good job on recruiting I think...not their fault that the kid has mental illness and is severely injury prone

Year 3..Bailey...great job recruiting...awesome potential polished kid with big talent...not their fault that Covid ruined every bit of real development time.

So....what blame? Not getting Hurts? That seems like an delusional unrealistic expectation...and they really tried with Daniels this year, but that would have been a waste for us as much as it is for UGA.....so...what blame?

the grad transfer qb's? yeah, they failed. Chryst was not very good. the MD kid left/opted out or whatever...and JT Daniels went..elsewhere. but as it turns out, that knee is still a bit of problem, so not sure how much difference he makes here anyway...i can't' imagine riding the bench with a bum knee in Knoxville is all together differnt from doing it in Athens?
They just wanna tear down...they will not hear reason...just bitchybitchbitchbitchybitchbitchybitchbitch...🤦‍♂️

College football is a funny game. Most the players will not play professionally. Unlike the pros, they think about more than football. We as fans think they should think football 24/7, but in reality they do not. I reality, many of us care more about winning than they do.

They care about their classes, they care about their girl friends, some just want to get high or drunk just like a lot of 18-22 year olds want to do. Many of these young men see playing as an opportunity to get an education.

Until a few years ago, I never thought about these aspects of college football. Coaches have a real challenge getting players to focus week end and week out. Pruitt inherited an unfocused group. There are signs that he has been successful in refocusing them, but unfortunately two years and a few months has not been enough time yet.

Recruiting is more than stars. Teams need leaders and they need players who hate losing more than they love winning. The jury is still out, but IMO we have come a long ways from the disaster at the end of Butch Jones era. This next recruiting class is vital to help bring the Vols back to championship contenders.
Nailed. It. Post of the day. Too bad you’ll have 30 reactions about how dumb they think your take is.

You'll like this story then.

When they came down for the bowl game here in Jax and announced where they would practice, I inquired with some of the folks I know in media for times and all that. They told me but said they weren't supposed to tell me but I wanted to show my 4 year old the Vols in person and maybe have him meet some. Side note: JG was very nice as was Trey Smith.

Well one of the UT football guys asked how I found out about the time. Knowing I wasn't supposed to be there, I wasn't gonna rat out the folks I know so I dead ass looked into this dudes eyes and said "Blake Toppmeyer".

That’s classic. True smooth operator @nicksjuzunk

i'm the opposite. i don't want anyone putting any details out there.

far easier to explain it as "mom not happy about her son not being at TN" and move on.

the last thing we need is mom spilling whatever she perceives as "dirt" on the program......sometimes pwo's and walk ons in general don't work out. it's not like they offered him, signed him, and then a year later said "yeah, about that............." there had to be, on some level knowing you're a walk on or PWO, an understanding that the arrangement was tentative......until it's not......

Jeremy is focused on his guys. Exception JG of course.
