well, i think in the USCe game, the play calling wasn't the issue, he was aggressive early...we missed on A LOT of throws in that game....dialed it back.

MO, i think was really, really good...that game we executed much better in the passing game....likely because we really executed well in the run game.

UGA..........i didn't think it was "bad". though there was a stretch in the 3rd qtr where we tried repeatedly to beat UGA to the edges on consecutive plays and lost yardage or no gain...and i didn't understand that at all....then once the turnovers started, hard to "call" your way out of a disaster.

UK........that game was not due to play calling....

my only critique of Chaney, and it's really the same one i had when he was here the 1st time is that at times he seems to get impatient, and when he does, he dials up a low % play down field....i don't get terribly upset about it because i don't mind being aggressive, or showing confidence in your players......but sometimes, it's ok to get 3-4 yards on 1st or 2nd down...and keep the ball moving.....like with Shrout's pick...not sure that play call was warranted at that point in the game. settle the kid in a bit.....lol.
MO was ok. Im a run first, pass second guy. I despise running from shotgun, it fools no one.

line up in a pro dadgum set and use a WC style offense to ram it down throats, inclusing Bama's. You're teling me thst these talented frosh cant help?

My oldest daughter has never seen us beat Alabama, and Florida only once, in her lifetime.

She just rolls her eyes when I talk about the good old days.
😏
I watch a lot of replays of our better games. When my daughter sees me watching now, she asks if it is a "real" game or just a replay.....:p:p:p

Not sure if has been discussed but is it still a foregone conclusion that Cade is going pro after the season. Coming into the year it seemed inevitable. After 4 games he hasn't really done anything to stand out and warrant him leaving early.

Any thoughts?

To be fair how do we know “he hasn’t Done anything to standout and warrant leaving”?

Extremely hard for fans like us to evaluate OL play and I don’t recall him being the source of any of our glaring OL issues

i'm sure some can/should/could/will. but, and i hate to keep bringing it up, but the EE's got zero spring and very little summer. the summer enrollees got zilch....

so, even for a normal freshman season where your back is a bit against the wall from a development standpoint, it really was for this group of freshmen.

as for the style choice, that's fine....it's a matter of preference for everyone. but i think Chaney's basic philsophy is to create game plans and call plays that best suit the personnel, and then go execute it....he's not married to any particular offensive style....

i think the QB performance and some personnel limitations have a lot to do with the perception on play calling....it's not THE problem.

ha, mine are savvy enough to know that when i'm doing that, the game's not in HD.....................................double bars on the sides of the screen are a dead giveaway....lol.

Agree. OL is the toughest spot to watch even for the "experts". He has looked good at guard but not at tackle.

Just kind of expect players that are going to leave early for the league to make huge impact. Again guess OL is just different.

She should not have went public. Others just left and quietly and still on good terms. Walk on life is tough period.
my first roommate at TN was a walk on WR...he'd go to practice every day to be a crash test dummy. dude worked his butt off, but never saw the field....just scout team hero....

I have heard this from other parents who had walk ons. I would not allow my son to walk on under Pruitt.

Heard what exactly?

There are zero details in that post. This is the most irritating thing ever.

“Not being treated fairly” but doesn’t say how.

“Program isn’t what it seems” but doesn’t say how.

I’m not saying she’s lying but if you’re gonna put a statement like that out there, then actually give details. Or just one example. Just one.

i'm the opposite. i don't want anyone putting any details out there.

far easier to explain it as "mom not happy about her son not being at TN" and move on.

the last thing we need is mom spilling whatever she perceives as "dirt" on the program......sometimes pwo's and walk ons in general don't work out. it's not like they offered him, signed him, and then a year later said "yeah, about that............." there had to be, on some level knowing you're a walk on or PWO, an understanding that the arrangement was tentative......until it's not......

Because it’s going to be a problem no matter what we do against bama, and your setting up Maurer/Bailey for failure if your throwing them out there with limited reps. If you want to throw Shrout out there that’s fine. Or, if Bailey/Maurer have been able to get more reps than the coaching staff/media have been letting on them I’m all for giving them a shot.

I just don’t believe in putting a guy out there to take his lumps/try something different. If he’s prepared then I’m all for it, but doesn’t sound like they are with Maurer’s injury/quarantine and Bailey having half a fall practice under his belt.

It is what it is this week. Hope we can establish the run/slow the game down and JG plays like he did first half of Georgia. If we can prepare a young guy for a scripted series or two then that’s great, but I don’t think they’re prepared for a full game script.
See you look at it differently than myself. I think you are setting Bailey for success against Arkansas if you play him this week against Alabama. He needs the experience.

I agree with this.

I was more referencing the poster I replied to directly that said “I’ve heard this from other parents”.

Heard.....what? There are no details to hear.

Hope the kid does well, wherever he goes. Sucks that he came in when we started recruiting WR heavy. Atleast he got to see the field as a freshman. He also still has 4 years to play. So there is no true downside for him and he got to compete with SEC athletes.

Probably can be a solid mid major player I’d guess

gotcha.

i don't want random posters posting ish either....lol.

It’s a consideration...unless he was dead set on declaring early after 3 no matter what.

We're already throwing a guy out there that isn't prepared. It sounds like you're willing to just concede the game to Bama. If that's the case, why play? Let's just forfeit and get extra practice time.

Yes, that's sarcasm at the end.
