Several QBs Get Reps in Practice

This is interesting. Tough to know how much to read into a 247 article, but it almost sounds like the coaches want to try out Maurer again. The key phrase being "who will be healthy enough". That really can only refer to Maurer, as JG, Shrout, and Bailey are not injured. Could be reading too much into it, but would not surprise me; he would've likely been QB2 behind JG if not for injuries. In any case, sounds like whether or not JG starts, we'll see at least 1 other QB out there; just a question of who that will be.

Maurer made a lot of mistakes last season, but it always felt like the offense just "worked better" with him in the game. He'll improve quickly. IMO, he's going to be a very good college QB; just of matter of when.
Our QB coach is clearly garbage, these players should be ready by now.

Ready to at least deliver a serviceable performance

Exactly. We've seen enough and its time to move on from JG.
As I said in another thread, we are like the dolphins. They were who they were with fitz, and knew where he could take them. They made a change for tua to see if he could get them to the next level. We need to make a change. We know where JG can get us. We need to make a change.

Maurer also inspired a spark on O when he came in (until he had a turnover). There is no question he was the expected backup this year with Bailey later in the year with garbage time. Maurer is the only other backup that has had significant snaps and they were in the spring practice. COVID screwed up all plans

Change the starter only for a series or 2 then JG goes in. Just like last year!

Pruitt has forced Chaney and Weinke to work with and play JG. I do not believe either would have chosen JG if given an actual choice.

They have been limited as to how much they were able to prepare the others. They had to put time into JG hoping to make him successful.

In hindsight, it would have been a good idea to rep other QBs with the first-team offense before Oct 20th. Additionally, it might also be a good idea to know what plays each QB can execute competently so if they have to come in at a moment's notice, they aren't thrown to the wolves.

It looks like the same old lack of preparation by Pruitt. We saw it in year 1. We saw it in year 2. We are seeing it in year 3. Do better, CJP.

Maurer absent the concussion likely would have finished the year as starter. After the UGA game, Pruitt acted like it was obvious that Maurer was the new starter.

Shrout got yanked last year and last week because he still hasn't mastered the plays. In addition to making a bad read and throwing into coverage... Pruitt said he also forgot to send one of the guys in motion which contributed to the pick.

I like his arm but he seems to be way behind in knowledge of the O.

If only JG was playing like Fitz!

See the Dolphins are competing for a playoff berth and have a lot of momentum right now and they are still willing to sacrifice for the future.

With us we aren't sacrificing anything.

Do you think Mauer’s apparent lack of health was a factor in that decision?

At what point is CJP "still learning on the job" and at what point is he "not cut out for the job"?
