We recently had a book written about us called Decade of Dysfunction. We’re not the Tennessee of old. We’ve recently had UMass take us to the wire. Barely bear Charlotte. Lost to Georgia State. Got housed by Vanderbilt.

Swallow your pride and realize we’re not elite. We’re more similar to Nebraska, Michigan, Texas, and Miami right now and all of them are struggling now, compared to dominating In years past when I was growing up. Trying to get back there. I feel good about our chances - but we’re not close to there yet. So temper your enthusiasm. Or don’t, and set yourself for boundless angst.

Angst it is. I'll never be okay with losing to teams we should beat, and I include both Vandy and Kentucky in that category. I can't and won't pretend losing to them is acceptable and that everything is hunky dory. When things are good, I dole out credit. When things are bad, I dole out criticism. Doesn't mean I want Pruitt fired, but I certainly want things fixed.

Say what you want. The team didn’t like him then just like they don’t like him now. The only thing any of his teammates ever say about him is ra ra teammate talk. Everyone knows they don’t like him but ain’t going to throw him under the bus.

God this is like 2019 on repeat. "We'll go 1-11 because we obviously can't beat anyone but Chattanooga with JG!".

Not saying the same will happen, but to reject the possibility has already been shown false by last year. Let others play...bring him in off the bench...win games...rinse and repeat (best case).

My dude is the toughest. Next up is a 5-week break at home. Chemo starts after Thanksgiving. God is able. I do not know how people go through stuff like this without faith holding them together like glue.

Side note: the day my brother shared this news few months ago, a new song was on the radio the instant I got off the phone (It’s gonna be ok by Tasha Layton). And just now when he sent me this picture, the same song came on. I’m a wreck. Life is so precious.
