Just looking at this team and being honest about what needs to fixed, if we can do that without being attacked as "negative" or accused of "screaming for Pruitt's head", these are the things I see that coaches need to work on.
QB - Weinke needs to be spending his time with Shrout, Maurer, and Bailey. One of those 3 has to step up and supplant JG. Whatever is preventing them from being "ready" needs to be addressed, because JG is not the answer.
OL - Friend needs to be working with our OTs on pass blocking. We're fine on run blocking, but our Tackles struggle with getting beat when pass blocking. He needs to work with the entire line on discipline and remaining locked. This line is experienced enough we shouldn't be seeing so many false starts. Everyone needs to be clear on assignments.
RB - You can't fix size, but you can emphasize keep your momentum. Enough with the stutter steps and the pauses. Keep yourself north and south. Try to hit your tackler harder than he's hitting you. They need to be more physical IMO, and they need to learn to pass block. Not only that, they need to work on knowing when to release and become an outlet. I wish we had a big bruiser to add to the mix, but without moving Banks or Crouch, we don't. Unless Hodges can play that role, or Whitehead, but I don't recall having seen either play. Graham needs to teach these guys how to play like he did.
WR - Route running is always top of the list IMO, but blocking and separation are definitely near the top. Precise routes will help with separation. I still contend part of the problem is not having a good QB. Tee needs to get those young speedsters ready so we van have some legit deep threats that can run past defenders.
TE - I'm not sure what Osovet is supposed to do with the personnel he has, but maybe he can work a miracle. TE is a big recruiting need so hopefully one of these guys committed to us is the real deal. Not sure if this can be fixed with who we currently have on roster.
DL - It'll be interesting to see if Pruitt can get a push from these guys. I still contend the biggest weakness on defense is the lack of a pass rush. Between Pruitt and Feldon, they have to find that DE/OLB that can consistently get to the QB. I've seen a few misalign our DL, but this line had two goal line stops against UGA. They also had a 4th down stop in that first half. They're good against the run, they struggle getting to the QB with a pass rush. Really not so dissimilar from our OL.
OLB - Priority to me is pass rush. Already said it. Have to work on shedding blocks, need to be better in short coverages, need to do better tackling. Tackling applies to the whole defense.
ILB - Toot is great, but we need to get the whole Banks/Crouch thing figured out. Both are very raw.
DB - IMO, this has been the most disappointing unit on defense. Two elite coaches of the position, but subpar play. I think the biggest thing to fix is keeping their heads in the game. More often than not, the mistakes seem to be boneheaded lapses in judgement. They need to do better at recognizing routes and getting jumps. Reading the QB is key. And again, tackling.
The entire team needs better discipline. The kick to the groin in the KY game reaffirmed my belief in that. Crap like that shouldn't even be a thought that crosses our players' minds.
I guess I just really expected we'd be farther along than we are. So many things I thought would be fixed by now just aren't, and that's frustrating as hell as a fan. And some aspects actually seem like they've regressed. Not sure if it's because of Covid, or coaching choices, but the energy this year is not what I expected it would be. Seems like other teams were able to get around it, but not us. Again, frustrating. We've languished in mediocrity for over a decade. As a fan, I want more. Sorry if that angers some, but I feel like we've missed out on some opportunities, and some of that is on coaching. Saying that doesn't mean I want Pruitt fired. I want him to do better. Not sure what's wrong with wanting a high paid coach to do better.
