Sounds good but everyone on here will be asking why JG is playing 7 minutes into the game. If HB gets the start those same people will claim we ruined him. Volnation is in full-on eat everyone mode.
LOL, maybe with good reason .... after our outstanding performance Saturday

I would honestly start and play JG until the game gets out of hand. I would then bring in Bailey and hand him the keys to the car. If he drives it off the road, I say hand the reigns over to the most healthy of the other 2 QB's.

JG gives UT the best chance to win! I got that directly from the head coach!

The correct query should have been as follows:

"Should JG have been benched? "

At worst he needs to be part of a transition. CJP's statement that JG gives us the best chance to win is no longer valid. It is an incorrect statement, one he needs to drop. I say that as this kid has proven he can and will lose you games, multiple times. His practices count, but so do gamedays. He tends to be atrocious on the latter.

Does everyone agree the main problem is coaching. I mean look at Arkansas and Ole Piss. They are not going to win much but they look a lot more competitive than we do. They both have first year coaches. This coaching staff isn't getting it done.

Agree, let JG start for three reasons:
- Bailey is not really ready to start against the #2 team in D-1
- JG could have a game like he did vs UK/MO last year and throw for 300+
- Shrout will get you beat out of the gate

I'll be in no rush to get my work projects done for the game saturday. If it's not a bloodbath, I'll be surprised.

Yes but only after Bama. Let’s not get one of our future QBs hurt or mentally rocked early in his career.

This is not meant to be mean, but I have to say this fear of hurting a player’s feelings is making me SMH. They signed an LOI to play football at an SEC school. If they can’t line up and play without having a nervous breakdown, we are recruiting the wrong players. And here’s what I bet-Harrison Bailey isn’t scared of Bama, or anyone else on our schedule. At least I hope he’s not. Now, getting a skinny true freshman physically hurt is a bit of a concern, but if we can’t go to our bench and have at least a couple of serviceable QBs, we might as well call it good. Pruitt should have sat JG for good last year. I’m really mad that people who make millions of dollars a year keep telling us week after week that he’s “our best chance to win.” Apparently not, Jeremy!

Yeah, but probably Shrout.

Maurer is still injured apparently, so that rules him out.

I don't think they want to start Bailey till after the break. Not that I'd have any objection to him starting.

For whatever reason, they don't seem to want to start Shrout, but at this point, what do you have to lose? If he throws 4 INTs, that's only 1 more than JG was going to throw.

My point too. If this staff thinks JG gives us the best chance to win, then they haven’t been watching games for the last few years, in addition to all the other stuff they haven’t done. I’d rather watch a walk-on throw interceptions and be totally oblivious to the rush than JG. He’s the only QB I can ever remember at UT who makes me mad, even when we win.

Yes, JG gives the best chance to win the next game, but starting another QB gives UT the best chance to win more total games in the long run, especially next season, since this season SEC East chances are over. Sometimes picking the greedy best option for your next move doesn’t give you the best overall strategy— local max vs global max. It’s not like they are going to win Saturday anyway.
