I have seen guys like JG before - they do everything right Sunday to Friday - they are great in the film room, can see all the coverages, make all the right shifts and protections during practice, make all the throws and bring great energy to everything they do. They work their tail off in the gym and on the field.

BUT... when the lights come on and it is time to play for real - with actual pressure on a Saturday they completely fall apart.

It is the worst kind of player because you have hope, you feel a breakthrough is just around the corner. He gives you enough hope to stay with him.

Yep, we used to call them practice players. There were nowhere to be found during game time or folded during clutch time.

I actually think JG is talented enough to be a solid QB in this league. It's all mental with him. He seems to play better off the bench, I think we may go back to that.

Something strange going on with Maurer. Word on the street is he's not playing anytime soon...

I’d like to know why the hell not!...I mean what could he have done so bad to where he doesn’t even get to smell a start during the season?...we have had players come play at this university who have held up gas stations, robbed people and in one case at (gun point),sell dope out of dorms, rape cases and a current starter who at one point disrespected last enforcement screaming “**** the police”while threatening to hit a woman..Brian Maurer has been involved in NONE of those case scenarios so I’m really curious.

Surely you guys (and gals) are just emotionally venting? Surely you didn’t expect Pruitt to come out and say he was benching JG and announce who he was starting?

I’m not sure what you all expected, but today he said pretty much exactly what I thought he would say.

Despite the protests to the contrary, Pruitt benched JG last year. He gave Maurer and Shrout opportunities. JG played solid football off the bench for the most part.

Pruitt is not loyal to JG. Pruitt is loyal to trying to win. He proved that last year when he handled the QB situation rather well down the stretch.

I may be in the minority, but I believe these Sunday scrimmages have been an effort to get Bailey and other young guys up to speed because he KNOWS he is handcuffed by some of the older guys.

Even if he starts JG Saturday, that doesn’t mean JG is his final answer. It’s just where we are at that moment.

So go ahead and get it out of your system for now, and buckle in for the ride. Don’t get so obsessed with JG that you lose the ability to see the whole picture.

Having said all of that, I am now convinced Pruitt has to move on from JG, BUT I am also convinced that will be a process...not a band aid you rip off.

The answer is in front of you, he had some mental health issues this summer and the concusion(s) last season. I don't think those are a good combination and if they're holding him out for that I've got no problem with with it, some things are bigger than football.

I've heard there are some serious mental health issues.

That but also he battled a hamstring injury and missed a lot of time due to contact tracings in camp. At least that’s what I’ve read. He just hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

My question is where in the absolute f*** has @Atlanta VOL been In all of this? we need his insight and reassurance that everything will be ok.we are one decomit away from having a
( Lane Kiffin leaving in the middle of the night) meltdown.Buddy where the hell are ya we need some clarity in here
He’s always busy after a shitshow of a game.

Don’t flame me here, but I rewatched the first half and was pretty shocked at how well we moved the ball all half. The only thing that stopped us were penalties and turnovers. Point being, I don’t think we’re as far away in offense as people are making it out to be. Second half at Georgia, and whatever the hell the second half Saturday was being the exception. We need to gain consistency, which obviously I’m not sure Guarantano can deliver on, but we’re not far off.

I was the opposite of JG during my playing days in high school ball. Completely different level and not really a great example but I was never a good practice player but I played better in the actual games. Every athlete is different for sure.

JG shoulda played baseball.

On a personal note, beyond 40 thinking about HS ball makes me shudder. Picking up, yes, my 1 year old one can hear every pop & crack in what are, really an old person's knees.
