JG is the starter against Bama (merged)

I really don't care if JG starts / plays against Bama. Say what you will, but anyone with a room-temperature football IQ knows that UT has slightly below a snowballs chance in hell of beating Bama, so I see no good reason to make the switch there. If anything, the Bama game will make it exceeding clear (as if it's not already) that JG is not an SEC-caliber QB, and has (in my opinion) lost the trust of the UT offense. If...when he struggles against Bama, if they want to give another QB the opportunity, then so be it. But it's best to accept the fact that this is going to be a 2-3 team after the Bama game; use the next 3 weeks of practice to find the new #1 and #2 QB; and then roll with that plan moving forward. At this point, we're playing for a bowl game...any bowl game...and finding our QB for the 2021 season. It is what it is.

But if JG touches anything other than a clipboard after the Bama game, unless it's mop-up duty with a 30-point lead and 4 minutes to play...you'll have to send me a text message to tell me about it, because I will not be there, or anywhere, to watch it. I have an uncomfortable suspicion that there is a lot going on behind the scenes in UT Football right now, and if Coach Pruitt isn't careful, he might end up losing more than just another football game or two. I think he is at or near a crossroads where he is at risk of losing the support of the coaching staff, the players, and the UT fan base. We all know how those things tend to end, so the next few days (and weeks) are going to be critical for UT Football...and his career. Forewarned is forearmed.

I still think he gets this season and next almost regardless...but I've been wrong before. If Jeremy Pruitt wants to be the head football coach at UT, now would be a good time for him to start making wise decisions.

Go Vols.

I’m not surprised he gets the start against Bama...this is not a winnable game this year (once again)...let JG take the early punishment and once Bama is up by 28 (probably early second quarter) and they back off to cruise control on D let HB and the others take reps...

I hate to admit to throwing in the towel for this one but I just don’t see any of the three backups being able to step in and 1) run the full offense; 2) recognize and react to the many looks the Alabama D will show.

Read what I said again and don't be so sure about Salter....
I'm not seeing anything different.

It's really not that complicated.
He's either stubborn to the point of no return OR
He is intentionally sabotaging the program and himself to be fired. And truthfully those are both the same thing.

So what's the thought on Salter?

Wait so no one else gets reps in practice yet JG has to earn this spot in practice....

Done deal JG starting...cuz no one else get snaps
That was my take. So noone else is going to get snaps in practice because JG will be hogging them all. Then we can't put another QB into the game because he hasn't gotten enough snaps in practice. Please tell me that this is a nightmare.

Knowing as much defense as Pruitt does, there’s no way he considers this kid a threat to defenses. It’s comical at this point...
EXACTLY!!

You are the first person to mention that❤.

He is one of the best DCs in America and he thinks JG can win games???

So this guy in intentionally screwing things up passive-aggressively...

After that presser I am leaning toward the guy has realized he shouldnt be a head coach and is gonna try to make this fanbase Irate to the point that the hammer has to fall at the end of the year and he can go back to being a defensive coordinator. It is the wide receivers fault JG threw those picks. It is the offensive players responsibility to tackle well and prevent those pick 6s. It is the defensive lines fault we havent been playing well. Poor Jarrett would like to have a couple of those ball back blah blah blah. I am about over it and the rest of the fans are as well.

We're not talking about a guy who had a bad game and it was an anomaly. This guy folds against any kind of defensive pressure in almost every single game he plays in. There's been a pattern there for years, and it's beyond idiotic to think this might be the game he can get it together.

Which team in the SEC would JG be starting for? Exactly....

Pruitt refuses to let him off his leash because he’s too stubborn to make necessary changes.

The Bama game isn’t winnable but throwing JG out there when he’s clearly the problem, is setting a bad example to the rest of his teammates.

What a complete comedy show this has become.

Impossible...I was told by many on here that he was fully bought in, and had even undergone a lengthy Orange-blood transfusion. He loves it here and we are back.

That's what I heard.

Find a guy with some legs, give him a couple quick outs, hot routes and simple stuff and run with it. JG can't even do those things right. He's not a leader. Doesn't matter about the rest. He doesn't mentally have what it takes to play the position. I'd give the Holiday boy a look. Put a athlete that can play the position in there. It would give you more than what we currently have.

Per our previous discussion, I never agreed or disagreed, I merely played a little devil's advocate. My statement today specifically says he CAN’T be that dumb. Stubborn as hell definitely, but nut dumb.

As far as Salter, de1conley said last night after talking to someone on staff, that's exactly what's happening. Now you can take what de1 says with a grain of salt, but it wouldn't be the first time a staff has done something similar.

All that said, IF true, I rhink it's a ****ing NUTS strategy....

Edit: @LittleVol here is de1's quote..

No matter our QB, we are going to be abused by bama. Seeing JG's career at UT end in crushing defeat almost feels cathartic at this point. HB, if he plays, is going to make mistakes. I would rather see JG start, blow it like you know he will, and get pulled than see HB start, get yanked, and have JG come in to "save the day".

it's predictable at this point and I fully expect that to be the course of events.
