Meant this year. I remember Chryst, but you're right, I just completely forgot about Hill. What the heck happened to him anyway? Is he even on the roster?
Don’t know if he’s even on campus. Entered the portal before the season.

2 classes, really. He was hired right before ESD in 2017. Flipped Shrout from Cal. That was prob the best we could do especially coming off of 4-8.

Then Maurer. Then Bailey.

Maurer has shown flashes but hasn’t stayed healthy. Bailey could be the answer but hasn’t had the opp to take snaps due to Covid and re-worked preseason.

You can carry all the water you want but you want to act like JG is the worst QB in the history of our program fine..... so you mean to tell me in 3 years they couldn’t find a bad qb? That’s on them.

A lot of you are going to disagree with this take, but Friend and Chaney are fine. The OL is fine. The quarterback position is the problem. JG is JG, but a backup should have been ready and none of them are. Put that on the QB coach.

Many are making Friend the scapegoat because we have criticized him from the beginning. All offseason up to two weeks ago this whole forum was spouting off about how we had a Top 5 OL which was stacked with blue chip players in the 2 deep. Multiple future draft picks. Our strongest position group on the whole team.

They have one bad game against one of the best defenses in the nation and suddenly the coach that built that group has to go? I don't buy it. They don't get much help from the RBs in pass protect, the QB doesn't consistently move in the pocket snd holds it, and the QB can't point out a blitz if the defense told him. We have to find a solution at QB. At this point, I think HB should take all the practice reps and take over. We take our lumps like we did Dobbs' freshman year and roll.

Aight, rant over. If you disagree that's cool, don't be a dick about it though.
Our OL can run block very well. They do not pass block very well. The fact we're stacked with talent and they cannot pass block is a problem. It points to a lack of coaching of our young OTs IMO. I agree our RBs don't help, and QB play is atrocious, but our tackles get beat quite often.

Ranking of coach issues

Weinke - goes without saying
Pruitt - blame him for allowing this **** show to continue
Friend - his unit has allowed too many sacks.

CB - he's had a messed up fall "camp" due to the Rona. Its not the field issues.
Willing to criticize the unit for an issue, then diagnosing the problems leading to it, is fine. Screaming for the position coach to be fired doesn't add up for me. We need to demand better, and a guarantee Pruitt is demanding better from everybody.
Maybe I'm missing something: In my opinion, the sack issue can't 100% be blamed on the line or the OL coach. Most of the sacks seem to happen because a RB misses his assignment, JG holds it instead of throwing it away, or JG doesn't recognize the blitz and call it out. We HAVE to improve in that area, but that requires all units to improve.

I'm shocked by the CB firing. There HAD to have been something else happen. The unit needed to play better certainly, and recruiting seemed flat at DT, but nothing on the surface warranted getting fired.

If you’re in a running play, but switch to a hot read and the OL or RB isn’t told you won’t be pass protecting at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

🤦‍♀️
pretty sure you’re just kidding , but to be clear, I’m defending him because his “far fetched” idea also crossed my mind as a way to explain pruitt’s seemingly head scratching decision... it’s not that I believe it happened that way, just a crazy thought. That’s it. Not worth arguing about.

I am kidding...
Just as I was about the “dumbest thing I’ve seen on VN”...

Not only that but maybe Pruitt thinks the DL may have quit in the second half of the Kentucky game. He won't stand for anyone quitting.
You may be on the something Batman, I’d say there may some tension between the offense and defense. Imo the defense has got a gripe if that’s the cause. Our offense is killing our defense

Dline play was awful
Bad dline play affect the whole defense just like the oline
Glad he’s gone
Oline is honestly doing their job on 80-90 percent of plays, JG is just a statue and doesn’t help them when a guy does break free
Chaney is handcuffed just like any other OC when you have a QB that can’t feel pressure or makes slow decisions, can’t read defenses, etc.....

17-7 and we start with a 3 & out, still if the DL plays angry ya can turn the game around fast. Especially if it stays close as the OL starts mauling in the run game.

I’m just tired of complaining about JG honestly. Give the dude a break. He’s not a good qb. Pruitt and his coaches make millions on millions and have had 3 recruiting classes to find a better QB and can’t do it. Thats the moral of the story.
When he is costing us games that tends to happen.

The play at tackle needs to improve. I agree. I don't think that's a fireable offense is my point. I'm sure Pruitt/Friend emphasized run blocking in the short offseason. Now they need to work harder on pass blocking as a group (QB, RB, OL)

Me stating facts is not me carrying water.

Cool your jets for 2 seconds and realize not only the situation we’re in but the very real reasons why we are in said situation.

I think what's most concerning is that the offense has multiple problems. It's not "just" the QB play. Offensive line pass blocking has been poor. WR's havent been getting much separation. The offense as a whole has to get these issues fixed.
Ues
Young WRs need to step up
Really need a TE to step up and atleast make the defenses know he’s on the team
