Maybe he has several QBs and is just too devoted to one? That’s it’s own failure, but different than what you pointed out. If last week didn’t jar him out of his stubbornness then I’ll start subscribing to his critics. I personally believe this is scorched Earth time and Brumbaugh won’t be the sole banishment this week.

I agree he's too devoted to JG, but I still think Weinke is a liability when it comes to actual coaching. Maybe he can recruit, but the fact no other QBs are ready tells me he can't coach.

I don’t think anyone wants Pruitt fired at all. People are questioning him but they should when you get blown out by Kentucky. People are upset at playing a QB who is terrible and not making any changes at that position. Insert Bailey and watch how happy everyone is.

He did say “hugely speculating”... not saying it’s likely, but my mind went there too, just as a “what if”. I mean, Saban did think Lane was doing something fishy with their signals.

Do you think the DL was the weakest part of this team? I don't for one minute believe Brumbaugh was "lazy". The guy has barely had a chance to even coach his unit since he got hired right before the corona outbreak. I'm convinced something more had to have happened.

I remember after the game Pruitt was asked about OL and he stated the OL didn’t get good practice because of our lack of DL push. Guess he was serious..

Agreed, but in no way do I think the reason was laziness, which is what you said. There had to be a reason. Not sure it was a logical reason, but there had to be a reason.

So Pruitt is blaming the defense for not being good enough in practice to get the offense ready? Under that guise then JG is a better practice player because he isn't being challenged by our defense in practice, only to crap the bed in game situations? Sounds like a convoluted way to prepare the offensive side of the ball to me.

How do you know it wasn't? Pruitt is a known extreme workaholic...a workaholic can not abide someone less dedicated. It is just as good a theory as anybody elses .

I'd like to know why some think Pruitt is beyond reproach? I like the guy. I don't want him fired. But I think it's perfectly acceptable to criticize his job performance, especially after the last two games and his unwavering loyalty to JG. Criticism does not equate to wanting him gone. It is possible to put emotion aside and give honest to goodness, truthful criticism.

Speculating or stating it as a viable possibility, either way it’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen on VN...haha

They won’t do this, but if you dont trust the QBs to throw it, why not just run a West Point style triple option with Jimmy Holiday for the remainder of the year??

You have 2 great RBs, a 3rd string freshman RB that runs hard, a few athletes that can make plays in open space at WR that you can get the ball to on sweep plays (Velus, Hyatt, Calloway, to an extent Palmer) and enough big bodies to be the fullback (Beckwith, Banks, Crouch, Fant, Hodge) not to mention the OL actually performs well when run blocking, just can’t pass protect worth a damn. Hell, you feel like Holiday can’t do it, id bet Maurer has the athletic ability to. That type of offense with the athletes we have could give a ton of teams fits and make every game interesting. IMO if it clicks for them, it could be as dangerous as whatever the hell Kentucky did last year, if not more because we have better outside weapons than they did.

I include myself in that, but the difference with me is that as I add context I generally calm down.

For us to get better and healthier as a program, we absolutely need to avoid turning poisonous and becoming a negative cancer. Doing that will not help make it better.

When Pruitt was hired, All I really wanted from him was to restabilize the program that had fallen into Hell. I mean even if he never wins a championship....just be Johnny Majors and get us close.

He is well on his way to doing that, and If you can't see that, then you are just being a negavol butthead...period.

I don’t want to fire Pruitt but losing at home to UK for the first time since ‘84, then suddenly firing the DL coach doesn’t feel very stable.

I’m not even trying to play the tough guy motive. I have no reason to. I’m one of the softest hearted people you’ll ever meet, if you ever do. I’m a Vol fan til I die like the rest of you but I definitely don’t deserve everyone taking swipes when I wasn’t even being close to serious. Just shows how miserable some really are. Can’t even make jokes around some in this crew.

Honestly no matter what happens the rest of this season, I just don’t want more staff turnover.

We just hired a new DL, ILB, OLB, TE, and RB coach then COVID hit and no chemistry or trust has been built between these new coaches & their players.

Even the NFL is showing the effects of new faces not having a proper off-season to get used to their new team/coaches.

I can say it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, but not actually be mad or even slightly bothered. You said it, and after several responses communicated that you were being facetious. Which would then make it perfectly fine for people to roll their eyes / laugh / roast. Seems the only one being sensitive about it is you.
