This isn't untrue, but I'll be damned if I believe DL was our problem. No position group as a whole is playing great. I could pick apart LB play, and I can absolutely pick apart secondary play and our HC and our DC are both considered elite at coaching that position. But none of that is really why we've been losing. You cannot turn over the football 3 or more time a game and expect to win. Especially when your QB is throwing TDs to the other team. If this was about addressing team issues, then the person getting canned should have come from the offensive side of the ball. Also, if we can get better D line play it fixes a lot of issues on defense. If we can generate some sort of pressure with the front 4 and our linebackers don't have to be so aggressive at the LOS the middle will be covered a lot better in the pass game.
I don’t think anyone wants Pruitt fired at all. People are questioning him but they should when you get blown out by Kentucky. People are upset at playing a QB who is terrible and not making any changes at that position. Insert Bailey and watch how happy everyone is.We are the stupidest fanbase in sports..six quarters of bad play mainly because of one position sucking all to hell...and we are ready to fire our head coach that just ran off eight in a row after taking over the worst Tennessee program of all time, and only has two real classes of his own to use so far...oh and a stupid freak pandemic and the local governments overreaction to it, and overreaching rules basically destroyed a whole offseason of vital development fir a very young team.
But y'all go ahead and keep freaking out and cursing Pruitt and staff for idiots...because that is really going to make it all better..
Mentally, I think JG's confidence is shot. No way he continues as the starter. He plays better off the bench.
If HB is not ready this week, then we may see a scenario like last year where Shrout starts until he performs bad enough to play JG.

JG needs to be 4th string and show full commitment to letting the other 3 prove on the field that JG deserves to start, because his play has proven the opposite.
VN learning there has been a firing and the coaching search engine can fire up in mid October
“That’s a surprise Clark, just a real nice surprise”
I seriously don't blame him for JG. I've written JG off as a kid that just cannot be coached. Breaks under pressure. Don't get me wrong, I respect his grit, but he just can't get it done. What I blame Weinke for is that none of the other QBs are ready. He's had Maurer and Shrout for awhile now, yet we're afraid to let either see the field? That's poor coaching IMO.
Shrout gets one series, throws a pick on his only pass, and Pruitt speaks like he'll never see the field again. JG throws 2 pick sixes and "he's our best option". I just don't buy that.
I agree with you. But not like we have many options. Maurer is dealing with injuries/ personal issues and hasn't practiced. It remains to be seen if they want to trout out a true Freshmen QB with very little practice time against the #2 ranked team.
Jeremy needs some help as he is in over his head. If Phil is helping, count me in for supporting. I still want Jeremy to make it. But he's got to stop being more concerned with being a players' coach and social justice causes and start being a leader who does what's best for the team and program to win at an elite level. Coddling the chosen few does not qualify.
Brumbaugh was a bad hire, but few on here would speak out against it. He had not proven himself to be ready for the SEC. If we are to be elite, they have got to do better with assistants. We all know at least 2-3 more that need canned as well.
I will find better things to do on Saturdays if JG plays. Just record and watch later if we actually win (doubtful). Everyone wants Pruitt to be the guy because we really need him to be. If he keeps playing JG, he will lose this fanbase and possibly the team. I don’t know how you play him ever again. Bailey is the future and you play him no matter what. The fans can get behind that. What I predict will happen is that they’ll play the “open it up at practice, play the guy who gives us the best chance to win.” JG will have his usual great week of practice, they’ll trot him out, and we will see Harrison Bailey in the third quarter after JG going full meltdown again.
