Starting with the bowl game against Iowa until we got steamrolled by Bama in 16 was the funnest (albeit VERY frustrating at times) stretch I had as a Vols fan since the Fulmer years (which provided their own frustrations). Yes, the way we'd lose to Florida and that gut wrenching loss to Oklahoma SUCKED, but damn the team fought. We beat Florida, the Dobbs nail boot, the win at Bristol, and we played Bama in 15 the toughest we played them since 09.

Now, after that Bama loss Butch looked like he was done. It was nice to finally beat Nebraska in a bowl after the times they hammered us, lol. How we managed to beat Georgia Tech that following year I'll never know. Butch had his flaws that were his undoing for sure. The "strength " program was a joke. Dudes never got stronger. He would not change things, despite bringing in new people. So he needed to be gone. No doubt. But between yesterday and losing to the likes of Georgia State let's me know this staff will never get us where even Butch got us. Never. We fire him at the end of next year and we'll get another bargain basement coach and we'll wallow in mediocrity forever.

Who did Butch beat that he wasn't supposed to beat? Who has Pruitt beat that he wasn't supposed to beat? There lies the best to me.

I didnt remember playing 77 games in 2013, or there being 66 teams in the SEC East. Amazing how LT memory distorts things.

honestly starting to think each hire has been worse than the replacement. If we had been able to keep Kiffin we’d be better off. If Dooley had got a decent Defense we’d be better off. If Butch found his next mobile qb we’d probably be alright now.

In retrospect the best option would have been to bring on Cutcliffe.

The reason he didn’t always seemed odd. Hammy making him keep existing staff? What coach would accept that? What program would ask a coach to do that? Someone sabotaged the hire.

For Butch: #11 South Carolina in 2013, #19 Georgia in 2015. I’d add #19 Florida in 2016 too due to the streak, but that’s arguable because we were ranked higher than they were and a slight favorite according to the betting line.

Pruitt: #21 Auburn in 2018
