To be honest, I’m still pretty high on this team. We aren’t as bad as we looked yesterday. That was a team that was truly deflated. If we can get good/consistent QB play then we’ll be fine
But I don't see that being fixed this year. Coach put all his eggs in the JG basket. Didn't get Bailey ready. Evidently he's not got confidence in Shrout, the second QB he's tried to prep. I get the feeling there is a mad rush to get Bailey ready now. Bama, then an off week. Maybe treating it like a mini camp? That gives them three weeks. I think that's our only hope. If in three weeks, JG is still our "best chance to win", I think we're in deep trouble this year.

This program sank like a rock when they fired Fulmer and had an AD in charge who didn’t care about football.

The other programs went after it hard and rose up will we sank.

We sank so far that’s it’s hard to climb back up.

We became irrelevant.

I think JG still has a hyperinflated view of his own abilities and prospects as a QB and is so afraid of making mistakes that he paradoxically makes a crap ton of mistakes. He’s always thinking instead of doing. So it makes him slow to react and throw.

We should of known he wasn’t the guy after his Georgia tech hissy fit for not getting to play. That moment right there sealed his fate I believe:

He’s also certainly a head case at this point after the constant bench, play, bench, play charade that has been going on for years. He was probably damaged goods after 2017 and yet here we are in 2020 and he’s still playing.

I’m down this morning. It’s the most I’ve been down in the CJP era, besides after the Georgia St loss. But there’s a voice in my head telling me that CJP will do the right thing and make the change at QB, before or after Bama. I don’t care if Bailey is thrown to the wolves against Bama. We’re losing that game regardless. After that game, he’ll have two weeks to prepare for a damn good and improved Arkansas defense. Baptism by fire.

It has to be Bailey and Maurer next week imo, let those two guys be your 1 and 2 and see who can get something going for you. We absolutely Can’t keep letting JG’s mistakes infect the entire team. Also, the bad juju left over from the last coaching regime is still showIng up, that scares the ish out of me.

On a side note- I think players not having people at their games
In full is affecting them more than they care to admit.

I'll buy that.

Still... So much undisciplined play... Penalties... And "give up" ...Have me... Concerned....

It's not over by any stretch... But this either the being of the end... Or the moment the line gets drawn in the sand.
What concerns me most is the fan base got their wish and saw other qb's. And as most of us thought no one looks ready or even semi-competent, I'll give HB a pass here because he still needs time embedded in this system. I'll continue to harp on this being a coaching issue.

Pruitt has to get this figured out. We can't afford for him not to be the guy.

we have no qb
We have Bailey. That’s it. Just need to play him. If I hear another media outlet say he isn’t ready or the coaches push that narrative, I’m going to lose it. He’s ready, they just want excuses for not playing him. He can comprehend 35 plays and just runs those.

What makes me the most mad is JG has no leadership qualities or juice. When he plays scared and pouts, it trickles throughout the team. We can’t have a silent emotionless QB. This team was on fire when Maurer played. We need change badly.

Lol, ain't that the truth. We don't need those arm bands with the plays. It's just 20 plays, 10 if you eliminate right and left.

THREE TEAMS FEELING WORSE
1. TENNESSEE: Tennessee, you tease. Two weeks ago, we thought the Vols were a bit ahead of schedule in their rebuild – an eight-game win streak will do that for a program. Then Tennessee led in the first half against Georgia. Since then … opponents 61, Vols 7. Shoot, quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has created more points for the opponent (two pick-sixes, one fumble TD) than the No. 14 Vols have scored in that time period. Ouch. Guarantano finished Tennessee’s 34-7 loss to Kentucky (2-2) with more yards on those pix-sixes (126) than actual passing yards (88) on 21 attempts and was benched accordingly. There’s a real QB problem in Knoxville and it’s going to stall the program until true freshman Harrison Bailey or 2021 commit Kaidon Salter (No. 77 in the Top247) can help lift it; it’d be great if Jeremy Pruitt embraced a modern offense as well. Until those issues are fixed, Tennessee very much looks like a mid-tier SEC program. The Vols are good enough to beat the worst teams in the league consistently. But those in the Kentucky weight class and above? Not yet, at least not regularly.
By the way, this is the first time in 36 years Tennessee has lost the Wildcats in Knoxville. Not the best day for the Vol faithful.

I’d say it’ll happen after the bye week.

Hard to switch to a QB that didn’t get prepared leading up to the season. Chaney/Pruitt have handcuffed themselves bc they ask the QB to do too much with pre-snap reads, protections, play calls, etc.

Simplify the O. Simplify pre-snap reads. Simplify checks. Simplify play calling. Take some onus off of the QB so we can insert HB into the lineup and let’s get the ball in our playmakers’ hands. If you wanna throw a bunch of junk at HB in the off-season then go for it but let’s make this move and make it in a way that he can be successful so we can avoid being forced to play a certain QB bc he’s the only one that can handle the breadth of responsibilities they put on the QB.

Really no way he can start any QB but one of those two. Can’t start JG bc of fans and team. Can start JT in fans mind but how can you expect team to trust him if he doesn’t even trust him. Kid gets yanked after one mistake every time. That leaves Maurer who last yr had the team believing around him and Bailey who has the hype.

I remember in 2010 when we inserted Tyler Bray in the lineup and had a simplified offense for him and utilized our playmakers. It was a 180 turnaround.
