I’m not arguing that those aren’t weak positions, they are. But I am arguing that 2 classes isn’t enough to gauge it. Bailey hasn’t even practiced considering there was no spring and, according to VQ, he spent a great deal of fall camp in quarantine. Hard to know what we have there.I never said we didn’t have bodies there or potential. When i mentioned it before i even said *yet*. But there’s no doubt about it our two weakest spots are edge rusher and QB no matter how you spin it or who gets what blame.
not sure what you expect? you complain about development, then turn around and talk about how low the talent level is? so if they don't turn chicken ish in to prime rib, they suck? when we got shrout, it was discussed here a lot about how he's a project at best. same with Maurer, but maybe to a lesser degree. neither one was looked at as being program changers at the position, but maybe, with a year or two in the program, they could be something we don't expect. at this point in time, they kinda are what htey were billed to be upon arrival. Not astonished we missed out on top notch qb's but very surprised we weren't able to secure or develop back up options to a better degree. Surely you would agree our talent level at the position is very low.
I sincerely hope HB can either come in later this season or next season and improve that position for us, it will help immensely with qb recruits moving forward IMO. If he can't or doesn't we are in deep doo.
That's what I'm getting at, I never expected them to be program changers. But when a JG didn't pan out, then we couldn't develop the other two projects. My only point here is that we haven't been able to recruit or develop better options than JG to this point, and that's a pretty low ceiling. That is a cause for some concern. Does it mean they can't? I don't know, they are 0 for 3. If they can't get HB up to speed on a year or two I think the answer is then obvious. Right now early returns aren't great but I do feel HB is likely the best prospect of the 4.not sure what you expect? you complain about development, then turn around and talk about how low the talent level is? so if they don't turn chicken ish in to prime rib, they suck? when we got shrout, it was discussed here a lot about how he's a project at best. same with Maurer, but maybe to a lesser degree. neither one was looked at as being program changers at the position, but maybe, with a year or two in the program, they could be something we don't expect. at this point in time, they kinda are what htey were billed to be upon arrival.
the albatross around the offenses neck right now is that JG just hasn't turned out to be any better than he's ever been.
if we get in to year 2, 3 or beyond with HB and he can't play, then i think we will agree on the development.
i think for now, we're a bit hamstrung with situation dictating outcome at that position.
