Possible Drop Off in Strength & Conditioning?

Anytime we lose its the sky is falling who needs to be fired. I know its a hard pill to swallow but maybe just maybe we played a better team (which should be obvious) who also had a lot of familiarity with our OC and things went sideways. People let the fact UGA and Bama and FL are rivals color their views. These are normally very good to great teams. Losing to them sucks but it's not the end of the world. We beat them at times though not recently but the tide will turn. It always does. A lot of you haven't been around for the lean years Bama and UGA and Florida had over the decades, it all runs in cycles. When you play in the best league, at the highest level. this happens.

If we were in the OVC people would have a point. I personally have no worries because I know again in my lifetime w will reach the top again. If you look at the first half of that game we were right there..but they have more depth and more horses it showed in the second half. But this team is gonna get better and it's obvious on the field. Remember this time last year?

I agree with you on some points, but I am not a sky is falling guy. Just a consideration. That said, that Oline plays like that again this year against any team not named Bama, and I do think it is fair to look at a new OLC. I think WF gets a mulligan since it was Georgia.

Or maybe it was just one game against a team we all knew was better than us and has the nation’s best defense?

Covid would likely have more to do with a dropoff in S&C than the new S&C coach. People seem to keep forgetting that all of our lives have been severely disrupted over the past 7 months and the football players are no exception. But I don't think the S&C program is the problem ... we manhandled Mizzou up front in the same way Georgia manhandled us.
Add in Georgia has years of recruiting depth on UT..

We beat Mizzou by a TD, a touchdown Henry T and our defense put on the board. Looking back on it our offense was not lights out better than theirs.

Getting tacked easy (RBs), getting pushed around (OL) and not getting off blocks (DL) are all points that have been made by Vol Nation and all issues that can all be associated with the strength of out players.

S&C which was a huge concern of mine going into this season. We promoted a guy who basically had zero Power 5 S&C experience. To me that was a risky decision at best when you consider we had front row tickets to what happens when we fail to replace an experienced S&C coach with an experienced S&C coach.

I hate to give Will Friend an out, because in my opinion each position coach should also know the best S&C routines for their position group, but I cannot help but wonder and worry if there is something to this.

Every year when we lose our first one someone talks about the strength coach. Every year. Let’s assume for a second that our kids e just got beat up for once. I saw no issues with our d-line.... so there’s that. Some Vols fans struggle with this. Newsflash: every is lifting weights. Georgia has beat us in recruiting every year for the past five. We are improving, but not there yet. We will beat the Cat’s ass.

It’s almost like the team missed significant time due an illness and had to be quarantined or were not here for spring and summer weight time.

Original response: It’s almost as if every team had to deal with COVID and exercise was something every person could still do.

After reading this

Georgia Bulldogs faring better than most against COVID-19

response. I did not realize there was such a gap between the impact COVID had on Tennessee vs others.

I said they "look" smaller. Not that I've seen them get on a scale. You can put whatever weight you want on a roster.
Who puts out the roster? They previously weighed less. Why are they lying now?
