Speaking of starting QB's, remember when...

No.

Best on the team by far. Yes.

SEC caliber qb yes.

The SEC doesn't have any elite qbs this year.
Best on the team? We don't know that, I don't think the other QBs have gotten a fair shake

SEC caliber? No, he isn't and his lack of production shows this.

There's no changing your mind, you would drink his bathwater given the chance.

When I said that same exact thing last year I got called a conspiracy theorist. Js
That's because you're close to Brian.
I'm just a fan of his that wants to see him succeed on the field and in life.

First time i heard his story and then watched him play. His passion and talent. I felt he could be a legendary QB at Tennessee, but he's fighting an uphill battle. If Bailey was not ready....why would you not put your next experienced QB out there when JG fell apart?

Pruitt has handled Brian's career horribly.

I trust Chaney to be able to develop Bailey and he should have a great career here. But he could've done the same for Maurer if given a real chance. But Bailey wouldn't stay, and rightfully so. Both are too talented to not have their own team.

I'd hate to see because I think BM is the most talented....overall skills......I'm not sold on HB......
Bailey is good.
He's never to high or to low.
His release will speed up with experience.

He doesn't have Brian's wheels, but if you can operate from the pocket than that what matters.

No one else judges QB's based solely off of their completion percentage, ignoring every other metric either, but that doesn't stop you from doing so.
I don't

JG has been good to great in several major stats.

Qb rating, QBR, YPA, Completion %, Turnover %, td/int ratio.

Yall like to ignore the data and talk about eye tests and moxie and attitude and crap like that.

The issue I and most others have is why is JG the best QB on the roster in year 3? That's a terrible indictment on the staff from a roster building and coaching standpoint.

I have no doubt that he is the best practice qb on the team. He's a Heisman candidate all through the week and at practice speeds he has no peer. On weekends however, when the speed of play accelerates, his shortcomings become manifest. His inability to see the field, read defenses and make quick and wise decisions cannot be overlooked. He has had the same issues since he stepped on campus. He has the physical tools. But upstairs he's a lost ball in high weeds. He reached his ceiling in year one.
But in the end it makes no difference what I (or anyone else here) thinks, as Pruitt has made it clear that he is determined to run that albatross out there every week. He is not going to make a change. We know what Guarantano can do in a game situation; We've all seen it. What we don't know is what one of the other quarterbacks could do given an entire game to prove themselves. Running one of the other quarterbacks in for a couple of series is not sufficient to provide an accurate assessment of their potential.

16 Tds to 8 ints is not good, hell the td production alone is that of a college freshman

Because he transferred to Pitt and became was developed into a good QB by Jim Chaney.

That doesn't change the fact that throwing him to the wolves in his first career college start in The Swamp was a stupid idea.
I agree about the wolves part. My point was Peterman used in this instance to prove his point may have done the opposite.

No matter how much you want it to be true, these are not the standings of a successful SEC quarterback, unless you redefine the world successful to mean, "participated".

How many times are we going to get this same damn thread? Good coaches know when to cut bait and play for the future and there couldn't be a better year to do it than this one....then again good coaches would also be able to easily recruit over the guy yet that hasn't happened either.

Botch gave in to similar fanbase/QB misery and benched Worley for Peterman? How'd that turn out?

JG's no Iceman, Tee, Dobbs nor even Ainge, but he gives us our best chance to win...or he wouldn't be playing.

Y'all think he's got pix of CJP with a goat or something and that's why he starts? CJP doesn't owe JG anything - he's Botch's recruit. If the backups were sort of close, CJP would start them every game for the rest of the season to build experience for next year.

Maybe JG just needs to come off the bench...whatever, but he's the best chance we've got to win games.
Pretty damn good because Dobbs eventually came on to be our QB. Peterman started only one game

Expect to see Bailey soon

That doesn’t make it irrelevant. He was obviously NFL talent that we once had on our roster.

Whatever he did in the NFL Is completely irrelevant to the fact that he couldn’t perform while here. You don’t play guys who can’t perform regardless of how much natural talent they have......see a plethora of highly touted recruits who never amounted to much for reference
