Rewatched the game

JG was great the first half.

I'd like to disagree with you here. no way I'd use the word great to describe that first half performance. You may have just been using it as an expression, or relative to the second half, but what we saw out of JG in the first half in my opinion would be best described as serviceable.

Love the two touchdown passes, but neither ball was particularly well thrown. Palmer really did work on both plays to make those touchdowns count.

I don’t even want to rewatch this post......it’s too disturbing.

The oline, for all of their size and strength, not only were they getting whipped physically, but the were also clueless on "who" they should be blocking.

They were reminiscent of a Don Mahoney-coached oline, with at least one of them standing around looking for who to block as the JG was getting flushed from the pocket.

JG wasn't helping them with his lead feet, and determination to hold on to the ball as long as possible, but they played poorly, and even if they were getting beat by a stronger Dline, actually having them all block someone on every play would have made a difference.
YES! You are correct! The O line physically and fundamentally was sub-par without a doubt.
JG as always can’t handle pressure, given time he’s ok usually, under pressure he is terrible.
Add the 2 up and you get the results that we got

JG was great the first half. He was absolutely terrible in the 2nd. Alot of JGs poor play is because he was literally running for for his life. JG and the oline are the reason we lost. The RBs got blown up in pass protection. GA was able to do this by not respecting JG as a passer. At this point, I really do think it's time to play for the future and take your lumps with a new qb. We know that wont happen, tho.
JG doesn't run for his life. He sits in the pocket until he gets sacked and then fumbles the ball.

Should’ve just watched the first half and pretended that goal line stand was the end of the game. You would’ve thought we were national championship contenders after that.

Instead of watching a replay of the whole game, I just watched the first half twice.
Much more satisfying.
Well, we have to understand what went wrong IMO. I’m going to watch the 2nd half with special emphasis on the OL. Also going to try and evaluate defensive players.

We lost one game to arguably the best team in college football. Our other divisional foe lost yesterday too. What kind of insanity is this to “play for the future”. And if JG was runnIng for his life as you say, why do we think any of our other QBs would be successful under those conditions?
In the case of Maurer he is more mobile. I rewatched Maurers and JT’s plays last year a couple of hours ago. They both made plays that JG has never made. They both seemed to know when the pressure was coming and threw the ball out of bounds more often than JG had done since he has been year. They made mistakes also but one thing that stood out to me is that our receivers never seemed to be open much and never created a lot of space.

You got it. Average throws with great receiver "Seperation"

Can't say whether it was intentional or not, but the second one could not have been a more perfect throw. Impossible for DB to defend.

He didn't have time to even begin to sit in the pocket
He was the freaking #2 dual threat QB coming out of high school. If he knows the pocket collapses soon he's got to get the ball out quicker. He has little pocket awareness. Heck, all he has to do is not fumble 3 times and throw a pick and we're not having this discussion.
But he did. And we are. Because we always do. Because he's JG 😔

Even though we were winning at the half, the score was misleading. GA gifted us those points. Watch the highlights - we had two good throws for TDs, and an impressive goal line stop. On the first drive GA spotted us 7 because GAs center forgot he was snapping to a Keebler Elf. Then Kirby dumb gave us incredible field position going for it on 4th and 1 deep in their territory. That was absolutely stupid, but thanks for another 7. Our 5 star line played like they only had 5 star hearts, absolutely manhandled. We got our asses handed to us all the way around. So sick of this crap. Sigh...there’s always next year.

I would have to be payed 100 million dollars or more to watch that harrowing 2nd Half Meltdown that is the worst 2nd Half Meltdown for any Tennessee Volunteers Football team that has multiple talented players, and has a realistic chance of defeating a great team if they play a full great game.

Georgia was 88 FPI percent favorite to win except Tennessee played great in the 1st half which is a main reason why they were leading 21-17 at halftime, also because the defense had a terrific goal line stand and stopped Bennett easily on 4th down because Bennett learns the hard way he is not a Tebow that can get the 1st down that way when it’s obvious he will be running.
Also because Tennessee took advantage of the worst mistake by the Georgia offense a terrible snap.

Those are reasons why I would call that 2nd Half Meltdown vs the 88 FPI chance favorite to win Georgia team the worst 2nd meltdown for any Tennessee Volunteers talented football team that has the capability to defeat a great team by playing a full great game not a 1 great first half and a abysmal 2nd half.

They mostly did everything right in the 1st half which is why they lead 21-17, and 2nd half they did everything wrong including the Georgia Bulldogs forced JG had to beat them by throwing the football including having to move the football past midfield because the Georgia Bulldogs contained greatly the dynamic duo for running, won the turnover battle greatly , and they greatly executed with terrific 2nd half adjustments which is why they outscored the Volunteers 27-0 in the 2nd Half, and never trailed after they began to lead in the 2nd Half.

He didn't have time to even begin to sit in the pocket

That's true, but I don't think it's the conclusive statement that you seem to feel like it is.

When the other team is blitzing and sending pressure on every play, you're never supposed to sit in the pocket. So of course he didn't have time to do that, it wasn't the right thing to do. What he's supposed to do as a fifth year quarterback is recognize the pressure and make adjustments accordingly. Including reacting to the blitz the way quarterbacks are trained to react to a blitz.

Also, when pressure is coming and the pocket is collapsing, it is legal in American college football for a quarterback to use his legs to extend a play. I'm not implying that you don't know that, I'm wondering if he knows that lol.

He wasn't great in the first half. My goodness. He panics and has no pocket presence
