The University of Alabama's football program is more than Nick Saban. From the Governor to the janitor in the AD office they want only one thing, to win National Championships and they do whatever it takes to achieve that. Their bagman program has always been second to none. Internal power struggles in the big booster group caused their slip in the 90s, the infrastructure was always there. They may take a bridge coach after Saban, but rest assured as long as college football is played their will be a top rate program in Tuscaloosa. It is all most of their bandwagon fans have to live for.

If Saban retires soon, I think Urban Meyers would be in the conversation...
He jumps around more than popcorn. He can’t handle the stress of the SEC. Why do you think he “quit” in the first place? He saw what life was like without Tebow so he decided to make up a heart issue to get out before the ship sank. He also has a bad character reputation at Florida and Ohio St. Anyone that knows about Florida knows that he created a toxic environment and left them in shambles. At Ohio St he knew one of his assistants had domestic assault issues and still kept the guy employed. That’s part of the reason why Ohio St made him “resign”. Yeah he wins a lot of football games but by all accounts he is not a good person. Honestly now that I think about it, yeah I think Alabama should hire him because he’ll only stay there 3 years and run them into the ground just like he left Florida. If you hire a guy like him you are basically making a deal with the devil because he sure as hell doesn’t care about the kids he recruits. He only cares about football.

Once Alabama loses Saban they will go back to being mediocre like the better part of the 90s and early 2000s. Thankfully we may be starting to see the beginning of the end for him.
they were like that because of probation -- getting nailed again will never happen

8-1 last 9 games and you weirdos are coming unglued. Saw that coming a mile away

SC, UAB, KY, Mizz, Vandy, Indiana, SC, Mizz...................................................................................................... Before the streak, Bama loss. After the streak Ga loss. let's be realistic about " the streak"

I think we win the east well before bama falls off. We’re getting there. We have the talent to play with anyone. Just got to get the coaches to develop the talent and see it on the field.

That streak. Reminiscent of Fulmer's "November" record. It's neat but to cut down on confusion of "streaks" and willy-nilly calendar conveniences I propose a sweeping change to college football.

1. Every team shall be judged by their respective records in a uniform fashion: This can only be done on a competitive basis when confined by a predetermined length of time. i.e. a calendar year, or preset schedule, that may or may not be accompanied by rankings, championships, playoffs, etc.
2. This would allow for some parity and perspective, giving sound, sense and credibility to any accompanying rankings, analysis and championships.
3. We could call this scheduled time frame... a SEASON.

It's not perfect, and it could deflate the arguments of steadfast, cherry-picking Jones, Pruitt, and Dooley stalwarts...but hey...

It just might be crazy enough to work.

I'm willing to bet Bama is already working on a succession plan. Once the Powers That Be at Bama got sick of losing they set their sights on Saban and backed up the Brinks truck and gave him everything to "get it done!" UT, and most other schools, take a "Shoot, Ready, Aim" approach and hope it works out.

It may not work out for Bama after Saban retires but I would bet they will have a plan. And no, I don't think it will be Dabo. Why leave Clemson? He has a relatively easy pass to the playoffs given the current state of the SEC and ACC.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. Bama, A&M, and perhaps Auburn when they can are the only schools in the conference ready to do whatever it takes to bring in a name coach. The rest always choose up n comers or on the way downers.

Middle of the pack. Me personally I'm tired of the bottom half of the standings. It's been a damn long time now. We'll get em next year is getting real old.

3rd in the East and 5th in the SEC last year was not a bad year, the only reason people complain was the 1st two OOC losses (Which were bad)

My money is on Dabo retiring from Clemson a year or two before Memorial Stadium becomes Swinney Stadium.
