Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

The Bronze Star can be awarded without a V for merit and achievement. or with a V for valor. Newer military guys can maybe cover what it takes to get the regular one - they are not handed out like candy but sure looks like they aren't exactly rare these days - medal creep.

  • World War II: 395,380 recipients
  • Korean War: 30,359 recipients
  • Vietnam War: 719,969 recipients: 549,343 for achievement and service and 170,626 for valor
  • Operation Iraqi Freedom: 102,345 recipients: 99,886 for achievement and service and 2,459 for valor
Oh didn’t know they were awarded without combat V. Thanks for the info.

I always thought Bronze Stars were only for valor, too. I was shocked when I learned there are two types. The military has at least tightened up on the meritorious type in saying it has to be awarded for merit or achievement in a combat zone. It seems like there should be two distinctly separate awards - one for somebody who risked his neck and a different one for top officers and NCS padding a resume.

Is it true he’s got a second side piece? So I heard yesterday. He’s a pretty busy guy!
Imagine keeping up with three women. In Islam they can have up to four wives provided they are kept after equally. So the older guys will build a compound with one large house and four smaller houses/apartments surrounding it. The younger guys want absolutely nothing to do with it and I don’t blame them.

My father was a softy compared to my mom. She was hell on wheels when she got fired up.
Neither of my parents were overly belt crazy but then again I only got the belt from my dad one time, I totally deserved it. Other than that, I was the good kid.
Now my mom had this thump you in the head thing. Say something bad.. Thump. Right in the forehead. To this day, I've never raised my voice to my parents.

Does anybody remember whether Fred Sanford's junkyard is grass or artificial turf? Wonder how our newly cultivated running game can work out if it's really messy weather like some people are expecting. What I did find when looking for field type is that the GA fans have only managed to get over the hedges and pull down the goalposts one time, and that was when they finally beat us in 2000 - time to start another frustration streak for them.

That game was frustrating as hell.

Casey’s hurt shoulder cost us LSU, Florida and Georgia that year.

UGA fans were pretty docile until after that 2000 game. After that they’ve become worse than Florida IMO.

😳 little reb is 2 years younger than me. You are just any over achiever.
My wife is no longer 16 years younger than me. Today, it is down to 15 years. 8 weeks from now, it goes back to 16. She hit the double nickel 55 today. I told her that her present was that Erie Insurance gives a discount on her car insurance once you hit 55.

Lol, how romantic. Tell her happy birthday, I'll catch up with her next July.

I gave her flowers, a small Vol orange/white cake, a small chocolate cake (her favorite), some Ghirardelli chocolate( she likes chocolate), new pillows for the porch furniture, a free standing full length mirror, and just went out to eat. After almost 33 years, what does one give their spouse for a birthday?

Aww, that's awesome. It sounds like you made it a good birthday for her, good man.
Something with a power T on it is always my first thought for lilreb. Now if it has a power T with bourbon in it... Even better.
