Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

The best words we could hear in our house with regards to youth conflict resolution were “just wait till your father gets home!” when then knew mom wasn’t going to kill us and dad was no where near the sadist mom was.
Yeah, I’m going to have to, disagree with you there. For us it meant one of two things: if he got home and it was still light you’re cutting your own switch. If it’s dark the belt may make an appearance.

Two things came from being a military brat - many mothers pretty much handled the household because the dads didn't have 9-5 five day a week jobs. My mother had the crime and punishment handled by the time my dad got home. A little detail on that - in the event of a hurricane, the pilots flew the plans to a safe location and wives and kids rode out the storm.

When I was young, what kids and wives did or didn't do could impact the dad's career - promotion, etc. We learned right away that we were a part of the system like it or not.

Yep. This. We were a military family also even when dad retired you don’t just switch that off.

So I spent 7 hours yesterday on I85 troubleshooting my truck that cut off and wouldn't crank...tested everything electrical, fuel pump and relays etc...no luck. Finally called a tow truck and hauled it to the mechanic. They checked it out today, it was mud packed into the cam sensor. They cleaned it all out, she told me it would be $100 for the diagnostic and clean out. Got there to pick it up...she hands me my keys and says have a blessed night. Prayer answered...it was free. Walk to my truck and crank it...its dirt track racing loud. Oh no...look underneath...somebody stole both my catalytic converters. Sawed them off with a cordless sawzall . So they can sell em to a junkyard for prob $20 or $30, each.

What kind of piece of sheit sees an older Toyota thats obviously not a rich person's truck, broke down on the shoulder of the interstate...so down on their luck...and thinks to themselves "hey!!! I'll go steal this poor bastards stuff and cost him another $500 minimum so I can get $50" ??? What a piece of sheit human being. Good grief. I am still thankful...the Lord did answer my prayer about my truck. Unfortunately a couple of failed abortions decided to stop by and kick me in the balls. ..

I went out to mow my grass a little while ago and my next door neighbor was stapling up a Trump banner on his front porch columns. I asked him about them and he told me they came from Amazon so I went to their website and found a couple of items that I wanted. Even though they were "Prime" delivery they were 10 days out so I decided to check on Biden paraphernalia and guess what? It was available in half the time. The ***'kn liberals even manipulate yard sign sales.

Sorry to hear about the low-life ass holes still living among us in this God-blessed rich country that they have to do stuff like what you described. So, what's the plan Stan?

I am registering my truck in SC, because like Tennessee they do not have car inspections which NC does...so i am gonna weld a straight pipe in on both sides where my catalytic converters USED to be. Will probably sound better, but the check engine light being on all the time means the computer will try to make the engine run rich, lowering my gas mileage. I dont know though, more gas and a much better flowing exhaust might actually increase power..if the computer on-board will let it ....

Good luck in whichever way this will work best for you....

Isn't the O2 sensor usually located in the head pipe just past the exhaust manifold? If so, the sensor reads the fuel mixture before the exhaust goes through the catalytic converter. In that case, it doesn't look like it would try to run rich. I'm just guessing here because I know much more about carbureted cars without oxygen sensors.

What became of your catalytic converters? You know they're worth some money, right? For the precious metals.

So not necessarily. On OBDII vehicles which I promise yours is there are two sets of O2 sensors. The ones in front of the cats which are used for engine tuning and the ones after the cats used to look for cat efficiency. If you get the codes I can tell you which O2 sensors are the issue. Post them back.

If instead you’re saying all the O2 sensors are there and it’s just the cat efficiency then don’t worry it won’t affect tuning I promise you. But post the codes and I can tell you for sure.
