We will need more than just Palmer to play well if we are to beat UGa I like what I saw with #11, but still was not impressed with #80 Would not be be surprised to see some direct snaps to Holiday for some sweeps or roll out options plays. He is scary fast. We might even see a pass to a TE just to mix up things.

That is emphatically true.

It is not close to the "same" philosophy. Jones thought he would revolutionize the SEC with small, quick OL's. Thing is the SEC's big guys are plenty quick. Chaney and Pruitt are fundamentalists. When UT zone blocks now, the OL looks like a moving highway divider.

We will have to establish the run game early to keep their front seven off balance. If we can do this (which we should), the play action pass will work wonders. Our odds diminish quickly if their front seven can just pin their ears back and come after JG.

The QB must throw it better. According to SECstatcat, one third of JG's throws beyond 15 yards have been uncatchable. Only 33% have been completed. That just won't scare UGA. The run and pass games have to be complimentary. If anything, this era of CFB favors passing to set up the run. I hope UT's OL can push UGA's front 7 around too... but this ain't Mizzou or USCe.

My theory is that Velus Jones Jr. has been the secret we are keeping. We haven’t thrown crossing routes over the middle to the slot guy yet this year, and Velus is lightning quick. I think we’ve been avoiding showing that so we can run it against UGA.

He's key every game I feel. He's our go to guy and he and JG seem to be timed up together. GA is good enough defensively to play man on him with a safety always shading his way. I think Keyton has a big coming out party and uses his size speed combo effectively.

Would love to see that happen. JG has a big challenge this Saturday getting the ball to the receivers. A Vol win would be an early Christmas present.

JG performed much better in week 2, but his accuracy will definitely be a key against GA. I'm not too worried about the uncatchables. Sometimes, but not all, that is the proper play to avoid potential turnovers when the pressure is coming down and you can't continue through your progressions. Most of the remaining 33% incompletions came in the SC game where JG was simply off target. He is becoming more and more familiar with this year's WR group in game speed. He dropped a dime to Hyatt against Mizz, and that pass and distance is most definitely in JG's comfort zone (same general pass and distance as the Palmer SC TD). I think all our WRs are going to have good games against GA. GA simply doesn't have the talent to cover them all. When we choose to pass, we just have to give JG time to go through his progressions.

He was 33% on 15+ yard throws in both games. I do think he's played better in areas where he already had some strength. He's managed the run game very well.

The last comment is key... but because JG needs to hit the quick stuff against a team like UGA. He has to read then anticipate the throw. That's just not something he's ever done well. There won't be open, stationary targets vs UGA.

He has thrown some good balls this year. The pass to Hyatt was nice. The TD to Palmer was his best throw as a Vol IMO. UT just has to have more. UGA's secondary has to have fear that if they fly up UT will make them pay every time.

UT has a very fast WR corps this year. Hyatt, Palmer, Jones, Keyton, etc... they're all fast. On average, this is the fastest UT WR group I can remember. There have been fast individuals like Malone and Hunter... but these guys all seem to have speed.

Coach might have to call some quick passes to mix it up, as don't know that JP has barn burning speed.

Velus Jones is a much better player than I gave him credit for.

He's our 2nd best WR and maybe 2nd best playmaker on offense behind Gray.

Watch out for him this Saturday

I wish he had a little more wiggle and change of pace to his game as he's pure straight line speed. He's been a little better than I thought he'd be too but I like Hyatt to break a long one before VJ.

I do not think Palmer is the key to a win Saturday against the Dawgs. I don't think any of our receivers are.

I think this game is going to be low-scoring, defense-oriented (both teams), very much a ball control game. I think our offensive line and running backs are going to be the offensive keys. But even more than them, the key to this game will be discipline. Disciplined play, smart, assignment-oriented execution, mistake free, few penalties, no turnovers, and a willingness to grind with the big men on the inside.

There will be games this season where Josh and the other receivers have starring roles. Just not this game.

Palmer is our top WR and arguably best playmaker. UGA will do everything they can to shut Palmer down. Some other WRs need to step up if we want to win this game.
