I think their touches should remain equal no matter who emerges as number 1. I like the change of pace one to the other.I agree that Gray is more elusive, but people on here consistently underrate Chandler. It’s like y’all ignore every good game he has. Chandler was vastly superior last week. 13 carries for 86 yards compared to Gray’s 12 carries for 40 yards. Gray did have two negative plays last week that were not his fault, but he was still outplayed by Chandler. Today was different. Their touches should remain roughly equal until one separates himself.
You must be forgetting Vanderbilt... but how do you forget them? Arkansas, Vandy and Kentucky are not "losable". And I don't want to hear about how good Kentucky is. I'm watching them struggle with Ole Miss right now and they look like crap. And when does Tennessee lose to Kentucky? Only in years when we really really suck.As far as winning? You can't do better than 2-0. In terms of film, I would be licking my chops at playing this secondary if I was an opposing OC. They were routinely beaten over the top by a back up QB.
Missou is just in a bad place. Talent is down and coaching carousel isn't helping. UT has one more bad team on the roster in Arkansas. Every other game is losable.
There should be no complaining after a nice Missouri win this week. The team generally look good. There always things to improve but the complainers need to take the week off, learn to relax and enjoy we did more than was expected and we are playing the type of Tennessee football most of us thing Tennessee football is.
I'm not ignoring anything, and I'm not implying that Chandler is garbage, either. In fact, I have defended him against people who want you to believe he isn't talented at all, in the past.I agree that Gray is more elusive, but people on here consistently underrate Chandler. Chandler is being used between the tackles more is why you see him on the early downs. Today we used Gray perfectly with several touches being with him in space. He was much better than last week between the tackles today as well.I'm not ignoring anything, and I'm not implying that Chandler is garbage, either. You are only pointing to the rushing stats from last week, but ignoring their receiving stats. In all, Chandler had 14 touches for 96 yds and Gray had 13 touches for 71 yds and a TD against USCe. That looks a little more even on paper than the stats you listed.
My comment wasn't a call for Gray to out touch Chandler 4 to 1 or for Chandler to hit the bench. I just think Gray could stand to grab a few more looks on early downs where it seems like Pruitt and co. prefer using Chandler.
You read way more into my post than I actually said. I said people consistently underrate Chandler on here which you apparently agree with, and I agreed that Gray is more elusive. Well, not sure how I was supposed to interpret this statement...You read way more into my post than I actually said. ...in your reply to my post, but if I somehow misinterpreted it, my apologies. It’s like y’all ignore every good game he has.
Agree. Mizzou vs. Vandy may be to see which one gets a win this year.I am by no means discrediting this win but, this Missouri team is really really bad. I honestly think we could have ran the ball every down and the score would have been worse. They are in for a very long season. 10/17 will be a showdown for them.
No apology necessary. Text doesn’t have tone. That statement is just an aside. The crux of my argument is that Chandler is underrated by Volnation. Gray is absolutely more effective as a receiver at this point, and it’s not close. He should get more first down touches if we continue the strategy of passing early, but the current split seems appropriate to me given their respective performances. Chandler was better last week. Gray was better today. Hell, maybe Jabari Small goes nuts next week.Well, not sure how I was supposed to interpret this statement...

Just wanted to be clear that I'm not dogging Chandler or calling for him to see a major reduction in carries.
Go back and watch our third down play calls on defense the past two games. We brought pressure and stunted a lot. Sometimes it was a zone blitz and sometimes it was 5-6 blitzing but there is no doubt Pruitt loves to create chaos up front on 3rd down. 1st and 2nd downs are typically basic defense.Speaking of vanilla.. Is it me or does it seem we aren't calling blitzes very much in both games? Seems like the defense is playing vanilla also. What do you think?
Today was a very good day.
I have been critical of JG, and I believe it was justified because he has always been so inconsistent. But today, he played the best, and most complete game he has played at Tennessee. He only had one or two hesitations which were so costly in the past. His passes were much more accurate, and his runs were on time.
The improvement from last week to this week was very impressive. We were better on offense and defense, and I expect us to improve even more. Really like this team.
