Our Offensive Line

Paused the video there and he looks taller than Warren. Warren is 6'6" and there are only two players on the roster that are taller than 6'6" and that's Darel Middleton who is 6'7" and Dayne Davis who is also 6'7". Davis is an OLineman, but his number is 66. Though they've been making uniform changes this game and last game it appears. Perhaps that is Dayne Davis? Cooper is 6'3", he'd be a lot shorter than Warren.
It looks like he is jumping.

I still saw lots of stops for 0-2 yards but think the line played well. Seems like our scheme allows edge rushers to crash down easily to make contact in the backfield. I hope they clean this up.
This! Don’t know why but seems like an O line like this shouldn’t have this happen against average Defense.

Several times today the outside backer or De was not being blocked and crashing down on runs up the middle. Seems like a flawed play design that is going to get blown up occasionally.

I don’t think the line was responsible for those short gains. From my perspective, it looked like the backs couldn’t break arm tackles. I saw huge holes all day, but someone would just grab the ball carrier and stop everything.

I think the above 2 post are more likely. Not breaking arm tackles is one thing, but getting hit 3 yards in the backfield is another.

There’s a video earlier in this thread of the Gray 20 yard touchdown. It’s a trap play, with the left DE unblocked until the pulling lineman traps him. If that play develops slower or the lineman has a good read it can be blown up in the backfield, but otherwise it can get a blocker on the DE and LB on the strong side, leaving the runner matched up against the secondary.

Right. The plays I was talking about was a semi-delayed handoff to the middle and they were leaving the outside lineman or Lb unblocked. He was able to crash down hard and make a play around the LOS.

Every game is goi g to have 1-2 yes runs. However, there were several times today where Mizzou had 8-9 guys in the box and we should have checked out of a run play.

I’m sure some of you noticed on the opening Chandler TD #93 lined up as an extra tackle on the left side. I was taken aback because I had no idea who this was. He put a great down block on his man and we scored easily. Anyway it was true freshman walk on Deven Jones out of Hardin Valley. I thought it was cool to see him out there, great moment and great job young man.
Edit: Upon watching again it appears the player wearing 93 on the play was not Deven Jones, as he was a white kid and Deven is not. Can anyone identify this player?
It’s Cooper Mays

We rushed for 200 yards!!! Are you seriously complaining that they didn't break every run for a big gain? MISERABLE MINORITY UNITE!
No I’m somewhat concerned that for the first 2 games we have had several negative or 0 -1 yard runs. That’s quite different from complaining every run wasn’t a Big Gain.

Does anyone have a general idea of what game would be the equivalent of off season work missed ?! Say would the number of practices completed by the fourth game would equal the number of organized hours missed this off season ?! And would that be a more accurate gage moving forward as the team we'll look like the rest of the season ?!

Cooper May's wore #93 and Riley Locklear wore #96 to be tightend eligible for the jumbo packages, which made them able to get beyond the LS without penalties.

The OL played a great game and the results were over 200 yards rushing!! Gray, Chandler and Small had really good games . . . Small put two defenders on their butts on one carry!

GBO - beat the Dawgs!

We had 49 carries and not a single one went for negative yardage. Our backs averaged 5-7 yards. 1-2 yard gains are going to happen and I'll take those small gains over having negative yardage plays. Considering we had no negative yardage run plays this game, complaining about the small gain plays comes across as nitpicky. They had a good game, there isn't much to be complaining about really. I'll take a day like this any day, I think most people would.
