Year 4 ... Same Old JG

Do you really thing that Pruitt starts JG for any reason other that it's who JP thinks gives him the best chance to wing the game?

I just remember all those fans who said Fulmer was playing favorites by starting Peyton over Brandon Stewart. They argued Stewart should start because he was such a good runner and Peyton couldn't scramble. The coaches always just want to win.

But many good coaches do not evaluate qb talent very well, Ga. last year, should have played Fields and kept him. Mullins Trask is much better than the qb he replaced. Lsu benefited last year by a qb that didn't get to start for Ohio State. All these are good coaches but failed to properly evaluate qb talent. I think Pruitt is a very good football coach, but imo is really missing it on jg. I looked at sc forum. They were saying in many post jg was the worst qb they would face this year. That had jg connected on half the wide open receivers ut would have put up 40 points. This is from our opponent. I feel Pruitt wants a game manager qb, which will never get us to a championship until we have superior talent, and in that department we are gaining, but will never pass bama, and ga. on this part. To win sec conference you must have a good qb even if you are loaded with 5 star players in other positions. Sabin changed his offensive style a few years ago because he seen this. But our best chance of winning with jg is run more and maybe we win 5 games this year.

Bottom line, we all know JG has limits and is not a top level SEC qb. It’s blatantly obvious.

I agree jg is not a top level sec qb, but disagree we all know it. Just look at the post on here there are still some who thinks he is one of the best in sec.

I don't think most people believe he's a top QB. They just don't think he's completely horrible either.

There's a big gulf between the few that think JG is "horrible" and k-town and Pulaski trying to convince everyone that just having a 60% completion percentage is enough to make him a top 3 SEC QB, regardless of any other metrics.

Most of his completions were around 5 yards. Very little success over 10 yards as one poster here provided in great detail. The 61% is misleading. Heck I probably complete 61% of 5 yards passes today and I haven’t played organized football since 1979. JG made some good plays but the bad play to good play ratio was probably 2 to 1 and more importantly enabled SC to hang around to the very end when the game should have been a blowout. We had Qb issues in the last three games dating back to last year. If we were not superior in the other position groups , we potentially lose to Vandy, Indiana and SC. The Qb is still a big liability for this team. It is the one position that is holding us back with competing with the SEC elites.

Didn't see game, people working at my
place today. I guess Pruitt won't play any
other QB's unless JG screws up or he
is sick. No matter how far ahead we are.

History is history, you cannot change that. Best game I have seen JG play and Ionly 3 questionable plays or passes from him all day so that is a grade of 90% plus IMO. You have to bring it every game though. I’m a Volunteers fan first, never stated I did not want him to succeed but had serious doubts about his ability to do so. Let’s see what he does going forward.

Dude shut up

I gave him credit for playing well so what is your d**n problem.
edit: If JG had played this well last week we would have won by a similar margin instead of needing a fumble recovery to preserve a win.
Just let them have their JG moment. Just gonna have to agree to disagree. At his very best JG is simply just a serviceable QB. That’s all he’ll ever be. Doesn’t have it between the ears or the physical ability to put in a top QB performance week-in-and-week-out. Can’t dog the kid for what he just doesn’t have. UT can hopefully take the next step back to national relevance once he’s given his time to UT. Good win but hopefully even better days are ahead.

JG played a very good game, much better than serviceable. But haters gonna hate.

This. Consistency has been a problem.

Shocking he gets better with the same coordinator for the second year in a row.

Safe to say we were much better at every position....this game is an was a walk away win....JG played good....was a step above a game manager which is what we need....the next week ar are not facing bottom barrel SEC teams...we are playing even talented teamsnor more talented...so let enjoy the win

I think having receivers to practice with would have made a big difference, but maybe not.

He just looks like a different player to me this year.
No significant errors this week but you have to admit he had a half dozen or more mistakes last week and cost us a lot of points.
