I would appreciate some prayers y'all. My best friend's husband was killed in a car crash a week ago. My 19 year old niece has knots on neck, chest and underarms. One on her chest is growing rapidly...from pimple size to over a dime size in 2 weeks. The earliest they can get her in at the cancer center is October 19. Lymphoma runs in the family. We are trying to get her to go through the ER in Murfreesboro or at Vanderbilt, but she is a stubborn teenager that is still trying to come to grips with the possibility. Plus my husband that is an alcoholic is missing more and more work. Was too drunk when he got up today to go. @VolsDoc81TX @Ulysees E. McGill any advice would be appreciated

Drag her ass to the Vandy ER. They should admit her. If they try to send her out, tell them that you will hold them libel for any serious condition that is found (medical negligence). Will add y’all to our prayers.

For everything!

@VolsDoc81TX any idea what this kind of brace is for?

He was going through contact in practice which I would assume wouldn’t happen if it was a labrum tear.

He can practice and play with a labral tear. Just pain and higher risk to dislocate.
The brace can help prevent the dislocation risk.

It’s an Ottobock brace. They make high quality braces. Adding the elbow portion increases the protection...

Sorry everyone...I’d do a message outside this thread if I could.

@VolsDoc81TX For 2-3 weeks my left knee, just below the kneecap, is slightly swollen, has slight discomfort when I bend it, hurts a good bit upon standing if I’ve been sitting down for a while, and hurts like a MFer if I have to kneel down and put weight on it. I’m sure there’s a thousand things it could be, but do you have any thoughts? Should I go see an Ortho or give it a while and see what happens?

It’s Patellar tendinitis with bursitis. Ice, over the counter anti-inflammatories (advil or aleve) Look up how to stretch your quads (look up Rectus femoris stretches, best ones).

The bursa is supposed to be there, it’s just inflammed.
I would try Voltaren gel, apply to the area 4 times per day for 10 days then decrease to 2 times per day until pain free. It’s the NSAID diclofenac and will work locally. It just went to over the counter , no longer need a prescription.

If those fail, then seek medical help. Make sure they use Ultrasound to guide an injection. Steroid in bursa good, in tendon, not good...

If you need anything else, just email me
Jkay@arlingtonortho.com

Hope that helps.

If it's not injury related, could it be inflammation from arthritis? My dad has arthritis and has had swelling in his knee before that was bad enough that he had it drained to relieve some of the pressure. Good luck!

He could also have arthritis, but he’s describing bursitis. 😊

Not VolsDoc, but it looks a lot like the arm brace I'm currently wearing for tennis elbow.

That one goes up and wraps around the chest and shoulder.

You must have torn your lateral epicondyle tendons for them to be bracing you.

If you can afford it try ultrasound guided PRP injected around the tears. Has been shown to be superior to surgery in many cases...

@Billy Antrim if you are anywhere near Arlington TX, email me and I will do it for my cost...

I'm going to miss 1/2 the season

Considering who you asked, you might get your answer by game time Saturday.
Hey, seriously harsh. I wish that we could personal message through VN, would make it easier to keep up...

Work family pets have been consuming lots of my time. I worry that if I skip pages to catch up, then I will miss a medical question, have 3 in the last few pages...
