Kids, in case your wondering what adulting is like...

I core-aerated and over-seeded my lawn today and am more giddy than I should be. 🌱

Righteous lawn pics incoming in about a month. ..

I have somebody else aerate for me, but I seed, fertilize, and otherwise care for my lawn. I take great pride in having a beautiful yard.

all we needed was consistent qb play. i don't think the play calling was awful. remember, 5 or 6 of those pass plays that we have been bemoaning JG on all week....those plays were there. that's not the play caller's or game plans fault they didn't work. they did work, at least to the point that everyone was in position to make the dang thing work. we were winning outside most of the night.

and when we decided to run the ball in the2nd half, we did.....

but yeah, on the whole i think the O line got better as the night went a long. but i wasn't overly impressed in the 1st half......

now, the game plan evolves as the game plays out, so as the game got later, and tighter on the scoreboard, i'm sure adjustments were made along the way. but the plan early on was to put the pedal on the floor............................we had to back off that obviously.

I didn't like 8 called RB rushes in the 1st half vs 21 in the 2nd half, felt like with Ty hitting 6.6 a carry ya coulda had a few more carries in the first half. Based on the fact they checked at the line to the sideline, I don't think JG audibled outta called runs. Just think Chaney fell in love with the pass a bit.

Just read the missouri game thread thus far.

The number of people over-estimating what DeAndre Johnson is capable of is mind boggling.

I mean, I'm not being a hater - but the guy suddenly isn't Derek Barnett. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ended the year with 5-6 sacks total.

Don't get me wrong - I'm rooting for the young man every snap to kill the QB, but he's never shown that he could. He crushed that group of 5 QB whos probably never experienced SEC speed before and has limited to no mobility... but I'm going to need to see a lot more before I start calling for him to get an inane number of sacks each week.

IMO the best pass rusher on this team remains Kivon Bennett. Come year end, it might be one of the freshman. I'll happily eat crow on this thread if DJ has another 2+ sack game this year.
DJ will have 9+ sacks this season. He is really good...period.

I was a drug addict for 9 years. I not only was a user but a dealer. I also had a bad Whiskey drinking habit but as God says sin never satisfies and sooner or later you hit the bottom having done everything the world said to do but yet never satisfied until I gave my life to the Lord. From that day on never touched another drink nor drugs He is has been and still is all sufficient for me. One of my dad's famous sayings goes, "I never quit drinking I just changed fountains!)
Absolutely love that!

If I didn’t have such a shaded lawn, I’d be all over some zoysia.
I’m trying to convince the wife to just let me put a pool in. I have so much shade at the bottom of my yard (area right behind my house) that I have tried three different shade tolerant Bermuda grass and they all have died. I’m done spending weekends sodding my grass.

On November 15th 1990 I got on my knees and asked God to help me. The devil in the bottle was choking me to death and I was powerless to do anything about it. On November the 16th I did it again and the the next day and the day after that and every day for the last 29 years. Prayer works, if you are struggling with alcoholism or addiction of any kind there is help and hope. There are good people and good treatment facilities willing to help and I would recommend them. I would also recommend that you also bow your head and ask God to break the chains of addiction.

July 18th 1998. I wasn't an alcoholic, but I believe the drug itself is irrelevant. For me it was mainly mixing meth/heroin, but I also smoked a ton of weed, took a lot of pills when I could get them, and when I did drink it was a lot...but I laid it all down, including tobacco on that day, and did exactly what you did...and almighty God saved me.

well, those checks were designed to get in the call they wanted for the look they were given. so if that's the case, again, the match ups favored us in the pass game. and early on, they wanted to set tempo, tone and try to get out on top quick. and i think we all agree, that's what really should have happened had we hit on some of those throws....they were there.

i can't fault Chaney for being aggressive, especially when he's getting the looks he wants, and gets in to plays that by all rights should accomplish what they're trying to.

as the imcompletions piled up and we started finding ourselves in those 2nd and longs, 3rd and longs, sure...we'd all of rather had 4-6 yards on a 1st down run....hindsight's funny that way.

they adjusted in the 2nd half, and did more of that. but that was again, likely due to the fact they didn't execute earlier and the game was tight...so it went more toward "don't make a mistake" offense vs. all gas no brakes offense......

edit: none of that means you should like that only 8 run plays and 10 yards rushing were accumulated in the 1st half. when i saw the 10 yards rushing stat in the 1st half, i did a double take too.....

same. now, i did take my hand aerater (garden weasel) and hit the hard to get spots and some of the spots in the yard that needed to be fixed...basically just tilled everything up, seeded again, and did a final weed n feed.... the core aeration was done 3 weeks ago, and i did that other stuff 2 weeks ago, and then we got a little bit of a cold spell, which was perfect. i've got grass growing err'where right now...except in two spots that are pissing me off.

but, the main parts of the front and back yard are coming in very nice...super green and thick as hell.

another week or so and i'll be ready to mow.....

I mean I get the "why" Chaney wanted to sling it. Very few times did I see any of USC's secondary guys really locking up WRs. And to his credit JG was reading it well, he just wasn't hitting the throws. I just feel like with more hand-offs early Ty/Gray both would have REALLY been churning it up in the 2nd half.

But this is obviously hindsight and being an armchair OC. We won and looked good offensively (especially in the 2nd half) so he did a nice job playcalling.

Yes, well said. And I still think they were trying to send the message that we are not going to be a run only team plus get the QB and WRs some reps since they had had very few. They were playing chess not checkers, and we are moaning because they didn't just run. There will be games when we do that.

So happy God pulled you out of the fire, brother! He did the same for me. He did for me what I couldn’t do for myself. I would just like to put it out here that I work at a Christ centered residential treatment facility for men who suffer with drug and alcohol addiction in Pelham, Tn. So if you have a loved one who is struggling, and is ready for recovery, reach out to me. I will do everything I can to get them into our program. And if they don’t want to come to our program I will do all that I can to get them into a program they feel better suits them. Anything I can do to help. Thank you all. God bless.
