Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I live in Knoxville, 10 minutes from UT. I have a nephew, two nieces there.

I also have a son in middle school, back in August with cases on the rise, we had a week to decide to go virtual or in person. Without more info, and knowing this meant for the whole semester, I kept him home.

Today, I get two emails. 1. We have another case in the school. That’s the third time in two weeks I have gotten it.

2. In November, I have to decide about the rest of the year.

UT has had cases, The Titans have cases.

That’s the dilemma after 7-8 months of trying to do what I think is right. I also have a 78 year old father, Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the horizon.

It’s mind blowing to me, after all this time...no plan.

Your family, like many families, are caught in the middle of the political fight. There's too much inaccurate information to sift through. It's tough when vulnerable people are in the home with others who are able to be out interacting.
Unfortunately the government cannot create a one size fits all plan. They should be advising people (like your family) about verified risks and proper precautionary practices
I personally know people in a family structure like yours who tested positive and were able to keep the parents virus free. We have an older poster (@AM64?) who cared for his Covid positive spouse without infection. So, it's possible.
Lastly, at my wife's hospital the treatment protocols and survivability are better now than in the beginning of the pandemic.
Best wishes for your family. Hopefully, we are in the final few months of concern.

What kind of plan are you wanting? It’s pretty obvious what the virus is..... just make the decisions that is best for your family

You have to take the information available and make your own plan, the government is not capable of creating individual plans.

It is a tough dilemma when you have elderly family members to care for.

Positives for young people:
- basically zero risk of hospitalization or serious course
- very unlikely to transmit infection to others

Also, it's important to consider the metrics we are now seeing on "virtual" leaning (TL;DR: It sucks) and the mounting mental health effects of social isolation.

I believe the wisest plan at this point (really since the beginning) is to protect the at-risk/elderly population, get kids and businesses back to full-speed, and consider a targeted vaccination program once available.

Expecting a cold virus not to spread or to disappear is absolutely nonsensical thinking.

And what was he referring to ? What does the title say ? No semantics here , just try to keep the meaning of words from being diluted. SemiAuto doesn’t equal Automatic. Words on a street doesn’t equal a Mural , Chinese doesn’t equal racist . 🤷‍♂️

I can tell you without question that people are not getting their kids tested or testing themselves when they think they’ve been exposed or have symptoms. I’m no virologist, but I don’t think it’s the masks keeping the numbers down.

Is it more acceptable to be a POS like Biden, but lie to people and try to hide it or be a POS like Trump, but let everyone know where you stand?
