Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I got to see Buford only one time. I was driving a company van & was in Selmer at a stop light. Across from me at the light was a car Buford was driving coming towards me when the light had turned green.

I can't help it you and huff have unrefined, cro magnon palettes unable to appreciate the brilliance of pineapple pizza.

Best pineapple for me was at one of those Brazillian steak joints. They rotisserie the pineapple and slather it with butter. Better than sex.

The thing about pineapple pizza is it give a sweet balance to the spiciness of the sauce and pepperoni or any other meat. I like that taste but only with pepperonis.

Barely. I remember it being on, but no particulars. I don't remember much before I started to 1st grade. Just a few snippets of things that happened.

Eve Arden was in that - she had one of those voices that carried over everything. Seems like she was the school secretary and tried to keep the principal from making a fool of himself. There was another show about that time - about a tugboat captain - forgot the name. Not sure why I remember them that well because I didn't watch TV that much - probably more the novelty of actually having a TV. We were at Tyndall then, and I think the Panama City station operated about three hours a day.

My memory goes back a bit further. The first I really remember was spring early summer 1950 (would have been four that summer) when we were at Shaw AFB, SC. I remember the housing and a few details - like reassembling my tricycle. Probably the thing that stands out most was remembering my dad taking a bag and I really believe a helmet out of the closet in the corner of the living room - that would have been when he left for Korea, but I didn't understand the meaning at the time.

I've never been to Adamsville though. I've always wanted to go there to his museum that Dwana put together.

I grew up west of selmer went to high school in selmer . We have 5 generations that Moore’s barber shop cut our hair then we would go to Pats cafe to get a slug burger ( straight across from the court house

I remember 3 or 4 "big things" that happened when I was younger. I remember getting hit in the mouth by a seesaw in kindergarten (there from age 3 to 5) , family move when I was about 3, and getting sick on chicken salad in kindergarten. I haven't eaten it since.

Sky King? That was later on in the 50s - there were a bunch of westerns like The Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers about that time. Lassie (with Jeff).
I used to watch Sky King every Sat. I'm saying that I didn't think that Ras was old enough to remember it. I remember Penny, the Songbird, and the Flying Crown Ranch.

Interesting. Learned something new today.

I forget sometimes about things like that because I grew up with them . We I say slug burger to someone like NGV that’s from Michigan there’s always that sideways look and head tilt lol

Yeah the seesaw thing would get your attention. I remember breaking my right arm twice - the first time was a shocker - I remember my arm looking kinda like a U - broke both bones but they didn't go through the skin. Second time I rolled my tricycle a week or so after the cast came off - it was kinda like "did it again". My dad was in Korea then, and my aunt and uncle were over that afternoon. Mother said my uncle's face went absolutely white when I came in and he saw it.
