If it saves ONE life is the lowest bar imaginable. With that standard it becomes a pure political issue about which issues they look at. You see it here with Covid. Something not avoidable, while avoidable diseases get no mention what so ever. Why? Politics.

I got blasted on here for claiming no place in the US yet had herd immunity. I was told repeatedly by a doctor on here that I was wrong. It was all fear porn. Now a NYC community (the highly Hasidic neighborhoods in Brooklyn) that quite likely has the highest or second highest antibody prevalence rate in the city (at or near 50%) is experiencing a new outbreak. That does not make sense under the BS "you can have herd immunity with only 20% of the population testing positive for the antibodies" theory. Additionally, it appears that many in this community had bought--hook, line and sinker--the right-wing talking point that, unlike just about every other contagious virus we know of, you can obtain herd immunity with this virus at as low as a 20% antibody rate. That appears to be THE reason they've been so lax about masks and social distancing. They thought they were on the other side of the virus.

Mask don't prevent you from getting the disease

NYC has averaged about 200 cases a day the last 7 days and that is far from a "outbreak".

And in other news, the CDC says the virus has mutated into a much less severe version

So yes, you are trying to cling to this, you are cheering on numbers and you are a disgusting individual that needs drama and misery in their life.

There were some speculating that a lot of cities, once they hit 20% antibody rate, started to tail off on infections. That seemed like something of a magic number. Instead of looking at things like maintaining social distancing, mask wearing, taking additional precautions, doing more activities outside, higher humidity during the summer, etc., many on here were more than eager to jump to the conclusion that herd immunity could be obtained at 20% antibody rate because other forms of immunity were playing a role as well and those forms of immunity, when added to antibody immunity, would get you to 70-75% immunity needed for herd immunity.

Some of the Hasidic communities being hit by the current uptick are over 50% with antibodies.

What? Not to take sides with the bro’s but not more lethal doesn’t mean less lethal. It could mean equal lethality but more contagious. The net result would be worse.

All that said, it isn’t very lethal to begin with and Mick, OH, Evil and the other bro’s on here are grasping at whatever they can to make this out to be something it’s not.
