Year 4 ... Same Old JG

He didnt play that well against GA anyway.
His first half was the best performance we've seen from a UT QB since Dobbs left. Being a Fr... there were no "adjustments" to be made once UGA adjusted. But he played very well in that first half.

But again, he shouldn't have had to play. UT's RS Jr should have been MUCH, MUCH better than he was with just normal development.

I dont care enough to post links to prove that by the stats, he is usually good on 3rd down. JG had a decent game but he needs to clean up his overthrows and 3rd down passes. Some people are acting like he played terrible. He did not play terrible. He is the starter and that's not gonna change unless he ***** the bed. Even if he gets pulled, it will probably be shrout that replaces him.
The stats were posted and evidently you’re right. I just seem to remember more “WTF” moments than “hell yeah!”.

And it may be Shrout. Who knows? But we’ll see. Given the dishonest nature of reporting I don’t chose to believe habitual liars. But you do you. I’d rather put my trust into my own eyes from last year and a random fan professional with access from this year. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our opinions match. Journalists are TOLD what to report and what to steer clear of and you can chose to believe every word of it if it tickles your fancy because they carry the “title” of “UT” reporter. However taking that as truth over two professionals without anyone telling them to 🤫 is kinda brave don’t you think?

IF this is a “safe” year for coaches then I think you see Shrout. But if this team is expected to win then I think you see Maurer. Especially if he’s gotten any better with decision making.

That game he was 50% passing with as many turnovers as tds. He was also responsible for only one more td for us than he gave up directly to them.

This game was better.

A game with 60% passing, no turnovers, and a SEC win would definitely be a career highlight for BM.
As was pointed out but you ignored... That was the #3 team in the country and possibly the most talented D in the country. USCe 2020 won't be confused for either of those things. They could not cover UT's WR's and did not get pressure frequently.

I see plenty of other star qbs overthrow almost every game. JG just wont be outdone.
You'd have a point if most of those were contested, closely defended plays. They weren't. He overthrew guys on plays that should be automatic for a "good" RS Sr QB in the SEC. If they aren't... you have a QB who will lose games for you.

JG want as good as his stats nor as bad as the glaring misses. While frustrating he managed the game better than in years past coming out of the gate. Time will tell if he's really improved or not.

I'm not a fan of the gameplan we put together Saturday. I felt we passed more than was needed, had we leaned on them more early they world have collapsed in the fourth IMO.

I would say JG didnt play well if he had those numbers. Has nothing to do with my expectations or him being a freshman or senior. Just stating he didnt play well.
So completely objective number only observation...no context whatsoever correct???

It is the only argument he has. He wants a true Fr that no one believes was ready to be the comparison standard... because to compare him to any other standard reveals the truth.
It like people have no idea what context is.....like reading the 1st page and last page of a book....i honestly dont understand that thought process

I dont really care about journalism being told what to say/them not seeing practice/saying things happened in practice that didnt. I hear shrout is number 2. If that's wrong and they trot maurer out there instead of shrout? I don't give a ****. It doesn't bother me. I'm not gonna get triggered because I was led to believe some false about who the backup is. Got a feeling that that they are right tho.... and murer hasn't looked good while shrout has improved enough to secure qb2 but if I'm wrong? Lol then oh well? I'm currently happy with JG as long as he continues to improve and manage the offense.

Nope. Just dont think he played well. That's all. But if I look at it from the viewpoint of him being a true freshman, I would probably have to say he did okay.

This is true but oftentimes those Star QB's aren't consistently overthrowing wide-open receivers or late with a throw and behind wide-open receivers. I can forgive one or two but this was all game. It was even more fustrating because there was no pressure like previous years past and recievers were open.

I know, I was just trying to poke a little fun at JG.

Yes, it was far to often. Hence the JG wont be outdone part.

He was prepared for two weeks going in because all the time and resources prior were poured into JG. Idk what so hard to understand about a freshman qb making his first start vs the #3 team in the country on a mere 2 weeks of prep NOT being able to sustain two halves of production. Neither him nor Chaney had the time to prepare to make adjustments within game plans at halftime on just two weeks bro! You’re expecting the impossible and attaching it to a lack of talent. It’s ridiculous!

I didn't say UGA wasn't better. They are still both SEC teams and the performance from JG would have been a career game for BM.

I kind of agree about the passing too much part but I also think it's a good sign that Chaney trust JG enough to pass more. If he can fix his overthrows, he would have pretty good numbers consistantly. That's all we need from him to at least compete with the big boys.

No one is arguing anything about prep or experience.

Those are great reasons why the game JG had Saturday was better than any BM has had.

I agree.

Won't even be outdone by true freshman's. Interestingly and on another note, Kyle Trask wasn't even a high school starter, got his first real start last year and his stats are on par with JG, who was a 5 star and in his 4th year. It questions, what the hell are our coaches doing on rocky top? Are we building for the future or are we just trying to salvage winning seasons? smh.

To be fair, that florida tight end might make anyone produce some damn good stats. That kid is amazing.

What I’m getting at is if you REALLY want to see his potential you can ONLY look at what he did in the first half. He was much better than 50% and he had UGA on their heels. When was the last time anyone could say that? The junior or senior version of BM more than likely would’ve beaten them.

So only look at the time they did not play the pass and he caught them off guard? Well that isn't 99% of a player's career.

Seeing how they look when the D adjusts to them is a better indication of talent. When they did that he struggled.

None of what you said changes that a "bad" game for JG would be a career or arguably a career game for BM.

I have said BM has potential. We will see if it as much as you say.

On one hand, I want to see Maurer get reps if the score allows it. But on the other hand, bailey is the future and the reps might be better spent on him.

I spoke to a buddy of mine this morning and he and his family went to the game and he said he was talking to another family next to him from Carolina and they said how in the world don't you guys have a better QB on the team than JG?...He said You guys recruit QB's right?...How is he the best you got?...He also said he wasn't complaining about him playing because there was a good chance he would screw up and lose the game...Sad thats what fans of other teams think of him.
and yet he's 1 pass completion away from being 3-0 vs South Carolina. I agree JG isn't one of our all-time greats by any stretch, but other fanbases sure have a lot of sour grapes about losing to him
