High Hopes

Yes I did! Seen than Kirby is Smart enough to bench the Starting QB that struggles and try a different one and it turned out very well for them
Are you trying to say JG has not been benched? Man you have a short memory. If we are going to be all we can be we need Bailey to get up to speed sooner than later. But, implying Pruitt won't bench JG is just wrong or a lie you can decide which one. Since Pruitt stayed with JG, I don't think he had much on the bench.

How much longer will that excuse still seem valid? 1 more year? 2? 5?

Either he has recruited well or he hasnt. It cannot be both

I don't believe it's an excuse. CJP and staff are recruiting well, but they don't have a time machine. Overall, we're not as deep as the top-tier teams, and the guys (as a whole) do not yet have the size and strength of a top-tier roster.

I'm old enough to remember what UT "was" when they were a top-tier program---pound for pound they looked like what you'd expect from such. We're not even close to that level of experience and athleticism across the roster, yet. Then, add in these rolling quarantines and it will expose these weaknesses to an even greater degree.

No he has been benched! After putting 0 points on the board, and a freshman came in and put points on the board before getting hurt. And other games the other qb’s have put points on the board. Can we compare them to JG? No , because they usually get 1 series and out while he gets series after series.
Because Pruitt won’t play them don’t mean squat to me. He hasn’t proven to me in any way that he knows what good QB play is!

I really don't think, PROVING to you what he knows about QB's or football for that matter, has ever entered Pruitt's mind. lol You must really be important for that to happen. Just in case you don't know, we also have an OC and a QB coach that has input into the Offense. JG is not good but Pruitt and Chaney didn't get to where they are without knowing who our best options for now. I hope it is Bailey and it is soon.

Never said proving to me ever mattered. And you’ve got a lot to learn if you think coaches get it right all the time and get the best players on the field all the time, any of them.
Justin Fields couldn’t get on the field for Chaney, but he was In the Hiesman discussion at Ohio st

I had high hopes we would beat Bama, Fla Or Georgia at least 1 of the three, but with what I saw last nite we are just average again. And can someone explain Pruitts obsession with JG to me. You cant make silk out of a sows ear.
First game after a 6 month lockdown in the middle of a pandemic on the road without 4-5 key starters knocking off some rust. I’ll take week 1 win however we can get it.

JG over thrown his receivers multiple times last night and a few of those would have been TD passes. There is plenty of hope still that he actually hits his target after all he is playing the same as last year yet with little practice vs a normal season hopefully in game two he gets more accurate

I've personally never seen a QB improve to the point where they are accurate, when before they were not..overnight.

This is year 4.

People's resignation about JG is no knee jerk reaction.

We're tired of it...

I though JG played much better, but still has a long way to go. He seemed to know where to go with the ball and understands the offense much better. There were some bad throws, and I will never understand why he throws so much heat on short passes that should be finessed

He isnt the best qb, but he managed the game just fine. CJC called a pretty good game but I wished he would have tried running a little more. I was encouraged by JGs play tonight

Credit Jim Chaney there for not only working with him, but putting him in positions to be successful during the game.

I hope I eat my words, but if JG plays the whole game next week, we will lose to Mizzou

Georgia looked worse than we did and they played an inferior team compared to USCe. I have not seen a Georgia have this poor of a running game. I think we will improve at most positions because we have a bunch of very talented Freshmen players who can play the game. The Georgia game could be very interesting. We can win that game.
If JG plays the whole game, I cant see us beating Gawga

I’d say CJP thinks JG is less likely to make mistakes that cost us the game. Obviously he was wildly inaccurate at times but then followed those with some great throws - crazy inconsistent. He looks like he’s improved his foot speed this year so I hope they game plan some more running for him. No turnovers is good and i didn’t notice plays where he tried to force it. If he could just consistently hit the open guys on the short and intermediate routes we would have blown SC out.

I think your take is most accurate. Fewer mistakes & if he can get on same page with young WR's then he is the QB on the roster who potentially keeps UT positive on turnover differential

Very few fan bases are better at self hate and the Guarantano navel gazing is exhibit 1a. Those of us who have only been fans for the last twenty years or so have only the twilight of Fulmer’s career, the Dooley years, and Butch’s snake oil as a frame of reference. So forgive us if we’re optimistic about having a “real” head Coach again and a group of players who look like they want to be wearing the T every time they’re out there, to include JG. Building depth and establishing culture take time, so please stop clamoring for coaches to be fired, QBs to be benched, etc.
