260 yards passing, 1 TD, 1 Rushing TD 8.4 yards per completion with a brand new receiving core during a covid year minus hardly any practice together. On the road, 4th quarter with the game tied he perfectly executed a 4 play 75 yard drive with 2 perfect throws, one he got decked on. ZERO TURNOVERS, like it or not it matters in this league. You guys act like the SEC is high school football. We're fixing to be 2-0 headed into the Ga game and guess who is likely to be playing QB. What woulda coulda shoulda argument is coming from yall next?

Mizzous front 7 is much better from the looks of it from last year. Their big QB can run.

I wouldn't count us as 2-0 just yet.

This was a bad South Carolina team.
19-31 and 1 TD through the air won't cut it.

This may be the only game we win all season with the type of product we put out there today. Just playing SEC teams...

JG...did show that he understood the down and distance and what option to throw to. Consistently did that.
But what good is that if he misses the WR?

There were about 7 passes that the WR had no chance or small chance at catching the ball.

Stupid comment. We've seen what a bad staff is. We watched 5 years of it under Lyle.

Outside of our continued QB struggles, Pruitt has done wonders with a team that was horrid in 2017. We're riding a 7-game win streak, recruiting extremely well, and have plenty of room for improvement. This staff isn't bad at all.

I think we're also conveniently forgetting that fall camp was a miserable this year with so many missed practices.

Slaughter got used a few times, but had several really good plays. Not having SS for the opener against a very experienced QB hurt us. What really concerned me was our inability to set and hold the edge. It will be interesting to see how many quality snaps Baron got as a result of that.

JG's over throws were awfully consistent, sad to say. OTOH he made a couple of really nice runs.

TE play was better than expected, some very physical blocking. Too bad none of their targets were catchable.

Johnson and Palmer played tough when needed. RK was open a lot, but had a terrible drop.

Banks is in for a tough time in the film room. Two stupid penalties. But, some good pursuit angles a few times, showing some decent speed

All in all, play was overall not as bad as I feared given that a lot of guys played with only 10 or so practices for the whole preseason.

Best news of the night: unlike others these first three weeks, we did not seem to have a bunch of injuries, nor cramping either.

Some of yall need to remember where we were a few short years ago... 0-8 in sec play. Undersized at virtually every position. And truthfully a horrible coach. Now we are on a 7 game win streak. Was it a pretty win? No but its a win. Ill take that any day over where we were at this time last year and the last year of Lyle.
It could be much worse...

Hey, we beat the spread. Will take a close road win any day, and don’t care what it looked like. Winning the close ones is key for a decent season. Game ball goes to To’To for the pick-6, looked like a RB on that play. Give JG credit for no T/O’s, although 1 for 11 on 3rd down will get you beat most of the time, some of the blame goes to wild play calling by Chaney.

Please give your assessment of the two sorry calls. I saw bad execution but in know way were they sorry calls. Pruit didn't false start or bobble the ball.

Looked a lot better than we did against GaSt last year. So far Pruitt's teams have been slow starters so a win in the SEC is a win. A&M struggled against Vandy. Ga struggled offensively. Its week 1.

Alot of their tightend and even their slots were on the LBs. Our corners played great. I thought Talor had a hell of a game. They stayed away from Thompson. Most of their success came across the middle.We had Freshman at safety playing their first game and the LBs not dropping in coverage. We had people out and got some reps for some youguns. These things are fixable. I don't like his attitude but Smiths a first rounder who will make alot of people look bad. Most of these things are fixable.I'm not worried at all.

Clearly all across the nation teams struggled because of apparent lack of practice time due to the “protocol”. That was OBVIOUSLY on display with the Vols. I wouldn’t draw many if any hard conclusions from this game other than to say we are learning how to win as a program. To take one liberty, I am just a little concerned about one issue. After we scored and regained the lead and held S.C. to 3 and out, we got the ball back with 9:00 minutes left in the game. With a TD lead I was hoping our OL could lead us on a 5-6 minute drive on the ground and at least get a field goal to take a two score lead and leave 3:00 or so on the clock. That’s the way we won regularly in the 90’s. But not only did that NOT happen but we squandered away good field position and pretty much gave the ball right back. Hopefully we’ll improve on that and be able to establish a more ball control offense. JMO

I mostly agree. I DO think a lot of what our fan base says comes really close after the game ends and their emotions taint their observations. CLEARLY this is one of the best staffs we've had in years so to make that statement is simply not correct. As far as Banks - he's still got a long way to go with his self control and his two penalties could easily have cost us the game. . JG obviously struggled some with his ball delivery (I wonder just how many repetitions they were able to get together in practice over the last several weeks) but for the most part he controlled the game for us. (WHY ISNT ANYONE MENTIONING ZERO TURNOVERS?) On the road against a rival (kinda) that absolutely hates you and we protect the ball the way we did? That is a direct result of JG making reasonable decisions. Some better than others? For sure. But he did not give the other team the ball for free. That's HUGE! I fear (not really) that some had those responses typed up before the game ever started. I think with a lesser experienced QB we lose the game at S.C. . That's just my take.

I told my brother before the game when he asked my thoughts. I said I am worried about turning the ball over. I was thinking fumbles. Listening to the sports outlets that was their fear as well all related to the lack of practice. I'm glad you brought that up.
