There's about 4 or 5 passes that weren't complete last night that needed to be. The WR (outside of Brandon Johnson's insane catch) didn't help out JG much but still the throws were off. Hopefully we can work out the kinks next weeks. A lot of teams didn't look good yesterday and we are looking for improvement with a W instead of an L
I feel like we left 2 or 3 tds on the board. But, after having time to actually think of how fall practice went this year, I feel pretty good about this team.

how is our qb situation STILL this bad? Dobbs was an anomaly.

our QB’s decision making was perfect last night. Be careful what you wish for. Take a look around the league yesterday and please understand that if JG had made one bad decision we are 0-1 this morning. I saw lots of QBs making poor decisions yesterday and 2 in orange wasn’t

Fields goals at the least. When we get the ball at the 50 we have to put points on the board. There was one point in the game I think we could have really pulled away.

I do and I love it when he is in there but that one pulling off a players helmet is a immature thing he has got to learn to control. I want him to blow up and lead this team but you got to do it on the field. Hopefully this game will teach him that.

My opinion. Think it'll take more than the game, unfortunately. Never believed he had "butter fingers" at RB, just reached the point where his aggression overrode his sense of ball security and football IQ.

He has all the tools to be one of the greats in either position. But until he finds the balance of *controlled* aggression, he's gonna continue to teeter between awesome asset and liability.

This might not be a popular opinion, but I was as done with JG as anybody, so I feel fine saying it...

He looked like an actual QB tonight.

He went through his progressions well and always threw to an open man. Not a single ball thrown was in danger of being picked.

He looked confident and pretty poised.

Yes he overthrew some balls, but surprisingly, they were the passes that he usually hits. His deep balls were thrown where our WRs could catch and run. That is something I thought i’d never see from JG.

He consistently stepped up and moved in the pocket. He made SC blitzers miss multiple times. In the past he has been completely stone-footed in the pocket. Again, the pocket mobility and presents displayed tonight was something I thought I’d never see from JG.

Again - he overthrew some passes. But even NFL QBs and coaches talk about how in the first game of the year you see more overthrown balls than any other game. The adrenaline is pumping. JG has made some poor throws in his career, but usually it’s because they are late or underthrown. Not tonight. He was on time and throwing to the correct WRs, just a little too much juice. I don’t expect him to hit every throw, but his intermediate passing is usually much better, and the mistakes tonight can be fixed and - imo - explained away by first game of the year adrenaline.

The main thing for me is just how he looked in the pocket. His feet were moving. He was evading the initial rush. He looking steady and decisive in his progressions. He worked from one side of the field to the other multiple times. He even showed some scrambling ability for the first time in his career.

Was he perfect? No. But we can’t expect that if we want to be reasonable fans. We need him to be more consistent. We need him to hit those open guys on third downs. But honestly, the mistakes he made tonight are fixable.

Before tonight, I was certain JG did not have the natural instincts to be a good QB. I don’t feel that way anymore.

I agree with parts, but JG still stared down receivers too much. I didn't see the going through progressions like you did outside of the really nice check-down to Gray that set up our first score.

To me, he just is what he is. He's never going to be great, but I was happy that he didn't make boneheaded mistakes. A senior starter in the SEC should be able to hit wide-open receivers though.

Good to see you on here Charger.

Disagree wholeheartedly. He was precise with his decisions and got the ball out with much more decisiveness than ever before last night. The deer in the headlights holding on to the ball too long staring down receivers wasn’t there last night. The ball went to the right player every single play All be it too high on 4-5 throws.

Pruitt straight up said he knew our team wasn't ready to play at a high level lol that's some brutal honestly
If we are all being honest and really think about the lack of spring practice and only 15 fall practices, we should have expected the same. The positive is that there were a lot of flashes. We will be better next week. Get a win against Mizzou, and we will be even better come Georgia. We are 1-0. Let’s enjoy it!

130+ on the ground and 2 rushing TDS, 2 sacks and 5 TFL. I thought JG had plenty of time tonight, the sacks were coverage sacks. Maybe may scale is weighted based on how much the OL has struggled the last couple years, but I felt like they were a real strength tonight.
I think the OL had some dominant moments but overall were inconsistent. You can see the talent. They can be much better. Overall, I give them a C+.

This is kind of a big deal though.

Well said. But we‘ve made up our minds that he sucks. So everything bad he does is magnified in our eyes and the good is minimized or ignored.

that’s the best way to describe the way JG is viewed.

I have not seen one single post raving about the game winning drive he led and the throws he made that drive but I’ve seen a lot about the 12 incompletions he threw on 31 attempts. For those doing math he still completed over 60% of his passes, didn’t throw anywhere close to a ball that could be intercepted and got the W

Same, 1 overthrow to keyton down the sideline. The miss on Hyatt and also the miss on Keyton down the middle.
The sacks were on JG, if I remember correctly he had EG to the left open but never looked his way.

This 1000x over. JG had a decent stat line but he caused the offense to stall out constantly by missing open WRs.

QB is a position that wins and loses games and, JG being what JG has always been, I have no confidence going into a game against any opponent that he will do enough to win us the game.

this makes me wonder if people
Actually think QBs are completely accurate all the time even when pressured.

Please watch some NFL games today and tell me how that goes. In fact the last nfl game I watched this week perhaps the most accurate QB In history in Brees missed a lot of throws.

Yeah you're right, missing open receivers isn't a big deal.

But we need him to be better, especially against the big boys.
The thing is that he can be a lot better. He is a very skilled passer. It was encouraging to see him give us a couple of positive plays with his legs.

i have been rewatching the game. While some are on here arguing QB play and rightfully so We are missing the biggest deficiency of the night. Fellas we missed Shamburger in a massive way. Slaughter played okay for a Frosh but damn was the middle and the slot wide open all night. After making slot receivers ghosts last year Shi took us to the woodshed. Shamburger is at minimum a 10 pt. Difference in the game.

Wins are never ever ugly!!! They may be madding at times but just ask an LSU fan if they would’ve liked a 31-27 win over Miss. St.😂
False dichotomy

It was both a win, and ugly

I have watched our victory over Florida several times from the mid 3rd quarter. I’m not sure I’ll get back to this one, but I’ll take it
