its really impossible to tell from this angle but the QB is basically throwing to a spot there and that ball was so elevated i thought there was plenty of time to adjust and find the ball. “Should” catch? Eh.... but catchable? For sure. The play in the first half where The announcers said JG threw it over the wrong shoulder I thought it was an awful route. He stuck is left foot in the ground and then stayed looking to his left. I thought the mistake was on 80
What you got ?
Slaughter is going to only get better and better...really quickly. That’s a true freshman without a real offseason playing on the road first game!My infallible takes from the game:
1. The slow start thing for Pruitt is over. We won. Every team was sloppy to start the year. Gracious look at Ga.
2. I don’t think too much about the defense being sloppy tonight. Game one, and all that contact tracing had us out of sorts. We were also starting a freshman at star and had to move BT to safety. They’ll be fine.
3. We have some players at receiver. They were open all night.
4. RB and OLgonna be a strength when they settle in
5. JG is still bad. If he’s all we got, we aren’t gonna make as much noise as this team could with better play there

The Star will be better if we get Sham back. That was a Freshman playing in his first game against a solid slot receiver. With all that has happened this offseason, a Win is a Win... Definitely need to iron out some things. Defensively: Star cannot keep allowing Slot to cross face even when playing inside leverage. Have to wall off any slant or seam. Overall defense played ok. Would like to have been off the field more...
Offensively: have to run the ball effectively and efficiently. JG played a relatively clean game, but he has room for improvement. Have to hit receivers in front of them on crossing routes, cannot afford to throw behind them. Offense needs to understand that for the rest of the year defenses in the league are going man with 1 high so WRs have to win 1v1 matchups and OL/RBs need to pick up pressure clean and not miss any assignments.
We need Shamburger and Mays by the time we get to UGA. Not even sure that they ever stopped us but we stopped ourselves with overthrows
Im not a JG fan but I agree his reads were good, I dont really remember any pass he tried to force into coverage. However his accuracy was another story.Stick with me here guys, but Bruin has a fair point on JG making smart decisions with the ball really all night. He overthrew balls, particularly egregiously on third down, but he was going to the right guys.
A senior shouldn’t have jitters like that. Hopefully he can develop touch (maybe calm down?), but if he doesn’t I think we have enough pieces to win with or without him.
