Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

have you seen the entire tweet history of donald criticizing President Obama's response to Ebola? It is quite comical. I mean 2 people died while President Obama was driving the car. And that is with a highly infectious disease. The country remained open....no one panicked. Someone gave a 70+ something year old man baby the keys and OMG....people are dying left and right. So yeah, those tweets did not age well.
Do you really believe the needle for death toll would have moved significantly if someone else was in office? If the answer is yes I cannot take anything else you say seriously.

There is plenty to criticize Trump over, no need for mental gymnastics.

Let me rephrase....most NYers believe that there is a difference between the two. That Cuomo has responded much better. I think they both did what was best for their states given population centers and density. Obviously Cuomo should take a hit on the nursing home issue that DeSantis handled better. And I think Cuomo should take a hit on not reigning in DeBlasio and being MORE heavy handed with NYC.

I’m curious about what he should have done?

Not sending known infected people back into nursing homes would have been a good start.

More globally, if you keep using total deaths in US as an indicator that Trump did a terrible job then you can't ignore that NY's death toll is far worse than any other state. Not even close.

Ebola transmits slightly differently than a flu virus.

The 2 errors I saw was the way nursing homes were set up to fail although there is not a real good alternative to that..... and shutting down part of the subway system forcing essential workers crammed in like sardines....... it s a easily spreadable disease so there is a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on.

Where would you send infected people that needed nursing home type care?

Hospitals like everyone else and like other states did. IIRC, they were still sending them back to NH even after the additional hospital capacity was brought online (and virtually unused).

The WSJ had a very in depth chronology of the mistakes made in NY that wasn't focused on the obvious nursing home issues. It was fraught with error from top to bottom. Some comes from the uniqueness of the situation, much comes from the leadership. Let's not forget they sold off their ventilator inventory to pay for other stuff (one example).

I didn't say it was worse or better under Obama, I said Ebola was actually something that is a severe danger to anyone who gets it, even today.
So when someone blasts Trump for tweeting how deadly and dangerous it was, he's not causing panic, he was stating actual facts

Thanks for that insight.

Are you suggesting that it's OK to incite panic for somethings and not others? The murdering hordes of MS-13 baby mama strollers ravaging towns across the US need to know.

How did they not age well? Ebola is a very deadly virus that every major hospital in the country produces reports on in the last 10 years or so

Do you really not grasp the irony of Trump calling the former administration "incompetent" for allowing a disease into the U.S. or him chastising the CDC and administration officials for not being forthcoming with the public as to the ease of transmission of the disease? There is really a tweet for every occasion.

I mean.... I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

That’s a good article for sure

I agree with that. The virus has still killed nearly 200k.

Nah. A lot of comorbidity has killed nearly 200k, it's disingenuous to blame the match when you've soaked your house in gasoline.

Has anyone seen statistics on how many people without underlying conditions have succumbed to covid?

Who cares?

Yep they definitely should have used different avenues to try to secure the residents but once they fail to meet hospital requirements they are still being sent out...... I work in a Nursing home and we had set up a centralized nursing home to send residents too but we in it is full we keep them in house and are trying to seal off part of a floor for covid patients..... if I had to guess the huge infection in nursing homes there probably came from employees instead of residents sent back to nursing homes.

Mentioning something that a lot of people face and deal with is not "inciting panic"
