Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

My Dad was in a nursing home in 2008 for 6 months until we brought him home. Passed away in 2017. My Mom was In an senior center for 18 months in 2015-2017. We brought her home and she is 86 now. May outlive me although she has significant dementia. It is 100% chance nursing home recipients are going to die but I seriously doubt 25% of Covid deaths would have died since Feb 2020. Maybe 5%. Don’t downplay the Covid deaths, it is happening and we have to accept it as it is and not distort the havoc to our lives and deaths this pandemic has caused.

There's no question that state governments did not do nearly enough to protect our elderly from this disease. NY is at the top of that list. There were huge and deadly mistakes made there but these mistakes were done on the state level.

Won't catch me at a Trump rally and yes masks keep X amount of droplets from being airborne
They do not keep droplets from getting out..... they do help prevent the distance it may go when coughing or sneezing..... if people coughed or sneezed into their elbow like they are suppose to then there is no difference

Nobody is going to force me to cough or sneeze into my elbow. It's my right and freedom not to. That's just crazy talk.

I always figured you to be an uncouth nasty bastard. I guess we’ve confirmed that view now! 😀
I run around all over the place..... work right in the middle of a covid area now and still test negative....I joke that it’s my diet dew that keeps me safe.... my staff has been lucky in not getting sick either so I joked with my dad that I don’t cover my mouth when I cough to try and give my staff just a little bit of protection.

I guess I view it as while I don’t think the Feds have any right to dictate that kind of behavior my mother sure as hell does and it’s a reflection on her. So if she saw me behaving that way she’d beat my ass.

I cough into my elbow and wear masks when required but I consider myself responsible for me and my family.... the government should keep its nose out of it

I don’t disagree with that. But my point was the thing that has become clear to me in all of this is we’ve apparently become nasty. I’m totally on board with giving the finger to the Fed on most anything generally. But when people have to have basic hygiene emphasized... 🤷‍♂️.

And I’m not saying that’s you. But from my own observations it’s clearly a bunch of people I’ve seen.

Agreed. Some disgusting people out there.

I’ve never been much for rubbing up against people in crowds so the social distancing thing has been pretty easy for me.... it does crack me up that so many people either don’t wear their mask correctly or fondle it to death.

Oh trust me ... there are some nasty azz grown individuals in this country . Not just dirty or grimy ... NASTY

I’ve got my damn mask pulled down under my nose as we speak because A) it’s mandated in the plant B) I think it’s ******** but I have to comply C) they think it’s ******** too because a huge number of people do it but nobody is chastised.

But I do stay the hell away from people, don’t pick my nose or butt in public (mostly... 😬), and cover my damn mouth and nose and look away when I sneeze. It’s mostly distance for me but that gets back to just staying the hell out of people’s space.

, some of your may be saying, “this is just evidence that the lockdown, social distancing and masks have worked.”

But that is obviously not the case. Clearly, if these measures did anything to halt viral transmission, the flu deaths would have gone down as well. They have not. They are right in line with the five-year average.

Despite social distancing and wearing masks and hand sanitizer on every corner…the spread of the flu virus has not halted one bit in its usual annual progress through society.

Ergo – the “emergency measures” have little to no impact on viral transmission.

Flu is killing more people than Covid19, and has been for months

Sure, any sentient person forced to pick one to get infected with would pick Covid.

But, how was Ebola under Obama worse than Covid under Trump? Explain.
I didn't say it was worse or better under Obama, I said Ebola was actually something that is a severe danger to anyone who gets it, even today.
So when someone blasts Trump for tweeting how deadly and dangerous it was, he's not causing panic, he was stating actual facts

How did they not age well? Ebola is a very deadly virus that every major hospital in the country produces reports on in the last 10 years or so
have you seen the entire tweet history of donald criticizing President Obama's response to Ebola? It is quite comical. I mean 2 people died while President Obama was driving the car. And that is with a highly infectious disease. The country remained open....no one panicked. Someone gave a 70+ something year old man baby the keys and OMG....people are dying left and right. So yeah, those tweets did not age well.

He told Bob Woodward Covid was like the plague....or was he just kidding?

I agree with that. The virus has still killed nearly 200k.
