My Dad was in a nursing home in 2008 for 6 months until we brought him home. Passed away in 2017. My Mom was In an senior center for 18 months in 2015-2017. We brought her home and she is 86 now. May outlive me although she has significant dementia. It is 100% chance nursing home recipients are going to die but I seriously doubt 25% of Covid deaths would have died since Feb 2020. Maybe 5%. Don’t downplay the Covid deaths, it is happening and we have to accept it as it is and not distort the havoc to our lives and deaths this pandemic has caused.
There's no question that state governments did not do nearly enough to protect our elderly from this disease. NY is at the top of that list. There were huge and deadly mistakes made there but these mistakes were done on the state level.
