2020 Presidential Race

So, your solution for poor people to educate themselves out of poverty is private education... brilliant.
It is a start. Vouchers would allow them to get a better education and a scholarship, which is a way out. It is public money going to a better system.

What does that have to do with looking the other way while largely black communities burn?

You don't have to post about your own racial journey here. Just keep the inspiration to yourself for that sort of thing.

The recent undertones in here from many of you has been enlightening. I saw several posters yesterday flirting with the idea that “forced integration” was a bad idea after all. Wow. Just, wow.

Cool example. Lot's of people are revisiting the concept of segregation, and have been for some time.

Hint: it isn't conservatives.

How is the system better? Public education has been a cornerstone of American society for, well, as long as it’s existed. (I feel a pretty elementary ethics lesson forthcoming)

Just what it is on here. Call Kamala a whore, all good. Call [insert conservative chick] and prepare for everyone .

I'm not saying anything other than it has been hugely successful, so far. I think your buddies, Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad, and Louis Farrakhan were for separation, if not actual segregation.

“My buddies” were all just as much religious fundamentalists as much as they were anything else, and that was their Achilles heel for rational thought. Though, I think Malcom X started to change his way of thinking when he was outcast from the brotherhood.

Public schools in inner cities are a failure. I didn't say that there should be no public education, although it would be cheaper and better if some competition was introduced.

You mean it could turn a profit? Profit has no place in education, that’s why our higher education system is a wrench in the gears of our society.

Be honest did that surprise you more or the fact that liberals are actually playing with segregation and believe it’s a good idea now ? Cause I’ve got to tell ya .. that’s pretty shocking to me .

It doesn’t surprise me at all, it’s just weird to see it in action... like snakes mating.

I would argue your buddies are more people who think these things:

School choice bad
Teachers Unions good
A Federal DOE is smart

All bad positions

1. I never caught Malcom X’s position on education, but I’m sure he had one.
2. Original thought in the PF, unions are bad. It’s amazing how easily profiteers can convince the public to vote against their own interests.
3. What oh-so-badly-needed fundamental changes would “school choice” bring (besides profit for private entities)?

Profit is a great motivator to make a business improve their product.

Not in education. There is no motive to turn out a better product, only motive to recruit the maximum sources of revenue while minimizing overhead wherever possible. That is not an environment conducive to optimal education, no matter how you slice it.
