I did not see the game, but managing a pitching staff is the most challenging part of being a manager, IMO. On the surface, it looks like a terrible move, but we don't know his thought process. Let's let the season play out before we brand him the worst manager in baseball. I will say if David Ross puts Kimbrel in any more save situations this year, he should be fired. It's not good baseball. A good manager doesn't send an inexperienced pitcher or one who has proven to be bad (both of whom were called up that same day) into the final inning of 1-run games in back-to-back days. His closer was tossing in the bullpen both games by the way.
Doesnt fit his MO. If they aren't leading, he has no idea what to do.
I'm all for athletes expressing their opinions on social problems AWAY from the game. In fact, I have great respect for those who do it on their own time and their own dime. But it shouldn't be happening AT the game IMO. How many jobs in this country allow you to freely express your social opinions while on the clock? Why should athletes be different in that regard? If whatever cause they support means that much to them, then they should be willing to pursue that cause when they're not "at work". Most people are perfectly aware at how screwed up and unfair this world is. We don't need constant reminders of it, and we don't need it creeping its way into our escapes from reality. And in the case of sports, it didn't creep in, it blew the door off its hinges.Agree with everything. I think it's fine to bring attention to the athletes' protests because their goal is to raise awareness and evoke significant change. I agree it's very frustrating when the annoucers try to out woken each other.
Bunch of young pitchers. To get an Ian Anderson you have to put them in some situations. I’m not a Snitker apologist, but the truth’s somewhere in the middle. You don’t win division titles with “the worst manager in baseball”
“Then on the 8th day God invented 2nd guessing...and that begat message boards.”Agree with the somewhere in the middle. It's a hyperbole to call him the worst manager in baseball. But his bullpen decisions are atrocious at times. The past 2 losses fall squarely on his shoulders. He's not putting young guys in situations that are easy to succeed; he's setting them up to fail.
We shouldn't have seen Weigel in the game without a lead or a big deficit. The aggravating part though is that Snitker didn't learn, and essentially did the same thing the very next game. The Nationals didn't make solid contact through 8 innings, then they rock Sobotka. AND Snitker leaves him in to implode and to give up 5 runs.
We’ve never needed that sort of information for any other virus or disease in order to carry on. Whether or not it’s a big deal has already obviated itself.Imo when we know exactly what the long term effects of having the virus are. If we knew it’s not a big deal long term then I agree with you but we don’t yet from what I can tell
