I don't think conservatives get how the press works. American freedom of the press is built upon unnamed sources. People need to be able to expose corruption and incompetence without fear of retribution.

Unnamed sources without confirmation prior to publishing is a relatively new phenomena. Our press used to actually do their jobs.

The problem with that is in the age of fake news “unnamed sources” don’t even have to exist to write a story. I mean I’m still waiting on the pee tapes and the mob laundered money to pan out as well.

You don't think Fox News is lying about having confirmed this story with "two former Senior Trump Administration Officials" do you? This is exactly the kind of left-wing, mainstream media story that Jennifer Griffin and her fellow Fox News reporters love to discredit. They have two sources, and I think it's becoming clear who at least one of them is. Fox News isn't lying to hurt Trump less than two months away from the election. Nobody is going to buy that this is "fake news" now that Fox News has confirmed the reporting on this. Especially, as it becomes more and more obvious that John Kelly is the one who has been driving it.

I don't know, but the longer we go without a comment from John Kelly, the more convinced I am that he is a source for this reporting. It's almost too obvious that it's him... or that he is at least one of them.

Here's what I found:

Two sources who were on the trip in question with Trump refuted the main thesis of The Atlantic's reporting -- that Trump canceled a trip to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, which is at the site of Belleau Wood, an important World War I battle, because he believed the dead soldiers to be "losers."

One of the sources who refuted the Atlantic's reporting is not a fan of Trump. Both sources said that Trump was upset about not being able to go to Aisne-Marne and said they had never heard Trump refer to war dead at Aisne-Marne or in the battle of Bellau Wood as "losers" or "suckers."

They could have flown if Trump had wanted to. Trudeau, Macron and Merkel made it somehow. I'm sure they would have given him a ride. No, he just didn't want to be bothered with it all IMO. He was probably more worried about his hair.

Just no. The mission commander/pilot in command is the person who makes the call and they are determined by standardized military requirements.

Macron and Merkel drove I believe. I read an article that pointed to Kelly calling off the motorcade as it was up to 2 hrs each way and with no air option for rapid egress they would not allow that.
