The surgery went well but his valves were too fragile for the heart to properly connect to and they weren't able to get his bleeding under control.

I've never really shared much about my personal life on here but my dad was a huge reason why I'm a Vols fan. Our shared passion for the team was an amazing way for us to bond. We would constantly text each other about commitments and would always talk on the phone after games...if the Vols won. If they lost, we both needed a day or two to cool off before mentioning it, haha.

My wife and I are expecting our first child in 6 weeks. It would have been his first grandchild. He was so excited to meet him/her (we don't know the gender yet), and now he won't be able to. My brother said that he will be our child's guardian angel.

I've read so many posts about people losing loved ones in these threads over the years and they've always touched me. Because I've always known my dad's life expectancy was going to be cut short due to his health problems and transplant. He got a second chance at life in 2003 but he paid dearly for it. He had so many procedures and operations to keep him going afterward and he took an entire pharmacy's worth of pills 100 times over. But he never complained and just kept going. Unfortunately, he ran out of gas at a time when I needed him the most, but my family believes that he was simply too tired for another fight and that he was at peace knowing his family was in a good spot.

My wife sent this pic to me last night of the three of us at the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jan. 2015. We attended many games together over the years and it was an annual tradition to meet up for at least one. I'm going to miss the hell out of him and I will never be able to watch a Vols game without him thinking of him and wanting to call him afterward to get his thoughts. Hug your loved ones, guys.

Prayers for you and your family. My dad’s dad died of lung cancer a month before I was born. He and my dad shared a love of hunting which got passed on to me. My dad always told me stories about him so he was still a part of my life and I look up to him still. Pass along that good stuff, and they are never really gone. I’m so sorry for your loss.

The death of a loved one is always devastating to those of us who have to live the rest of our lives without them, but your dad will still get to keep watch on those he loved.

i'll say one more thing on them and be done...i think most UGA fans, though none would really argue their schedule difficulty, most would probably tell you the two games they likely feel would be the biggest threat to them, based on talent levels etc...wouuld be Bama and UF. i would wager that most UGA fans believe they have a signficant enough talent advantage they can/should beat pretty much everyone else on the schedule....Auburn being the only other team that they might say had comparable talent, based on the past few recruiting cycles and how the games the last 3-4 years have played out.

so 1 toss up (bama), 1 probable (Florida) and 1 if they catch us on a bad day (Auburn).

everyone else..."W".

point being, expectations haven't changed, nor should they. they've recruited top 3ish long enough now that it should be a reload situation.

and if it's not.......................................LOL. let's just say "epic failure by this staff"..... :)

I think Banks and Crouch are going to rotate a lot. They are both good LBs but have different skill sets. Banks is faster in pass defense so 3rd and long I think you see Banks 3rd and short I think you see Crouch.

Remember whose defense this is.. JP like to flex guys out on the ends on passing downs.. he loves those linebackers that can play all 4 spots.. look for QC and Banks to be on the field together on passing downs a lot with QC coming off the edge
